  • Drift, the — (1) the church/fellowship; (2) a diocese; (3) an angelic order. Context decides.
  • Fevers, the Seven — the cardinal sins (warmths of the soul); see The Seven Fevers.
  • Frostmark, the — initiation by sealing in ice-water (“baptism”); also the hand-gesture. See The Frostmark.
  • Frostwalkers — (1) the angels; (2) honorific for the apostles. See The Frostwalkers (Beings).

  • Sixfold Star — the chief symbol; see The Sixfold Star.
  • Slush, the — purgatory, the meltwater margin; see The Slush.
  • Snow-bread — the sacred bread of the The Cold Communion; the “manna.”
  • Stilling, the — the prayer of stillness; also a miracle of Connor. See The Stilling, The Stillings of Connor Frost (Miracles).
  • Sublimation, the — Connor’s passing from flesh to holy vapor at the Whitening.
  • Whitening, the — (1) the central saving event (passion/ascension); (2) the high feast; (3) a synonym for being made holy.

  • Winter King, the — Connor in his glory and his coming return.

The Refrains

  • “Be still, and be kept.” — the great prayer.
  • “Awe and delight, awe and delight; the Cold is good.” — the worship-refrain.
  • “Come, Winter King.” (Rimespeech: Vell, Reythar) — the eschatological cry.
