Genealogies of the Frostfathers
The Frost-Lines from Cael to Connor
The Genealogies of the Frostfathers are the long generation-lists (“frost-lines”) preserved in the The Elder Rime — chiefly the Book of Frost — tracing the descent of the faithful from the first man Cael, through Halvard and the patriarchs Hagar, Isk, and Yacov, down through the kings to Connor Frost. They record not only names but ages (the long-lived frostfathers of the Age of Drifting) and the narrowing of the promise through the chosen line.
Why They Matter
Far from dry lists, the genealogies carry deep meaning for the faith: they show that sacred history is real and connected — “the Cold keeps its promise through true generations” — and they undergird the claim that Connor is the promised heir of Hagar and Davard. The Glacials open their own frost-lines tracing Connor’s descent, “that the warm world might know the Winter King came of the kept line.” They are expounded in the patriarchal commentaries.
