The Sisters of the Veil
The Great Women’s Order · Hospitals, Schools, and the Cold Hearth
The Sisters of the Veil are the largest and most beloved women’s order of Frostianity, founded by Saint Brigida of the Drift. Taking the white frost-veil at their profession, they bind themselves by the monastic Three Cold Vows (Stillness, Bareness, Purity) to the works of keeping — above all the care of the freezing poor, the sick, the orphan, and the dying.
Life and Work
Where the Stillers seek the Cold in contemplation and the Hagalites in learning, the Veiled Sisters seek it in active mercy: running the cold-hospitals, almshouses, and schools that spread across the Frostian world, and keeping Brigida’s paradox of “the warm hearth kept by the cold heart.” They keep the The Hours of Frost amid their labor and are honored in all three rites. Their veil is a sign of consecrated womanhood and of Wenna’s own keeping.
