Mirah the Prophetess
The First Song-Prophet · Sister of Borën
“Sing unto the Cold, for it hath triumphed gloriously; the warm horse and his rider hath it cast into the frozen sea.” — the Song of Mirah, after the Crossing
Mirah the Prophetess is the sister of Borën the Lawgiver and the first song-prophet of the The Rimefolk. When the people came safe through the frozen sea at the Crossing and the warm host was drowned in the returning melt, Mirah took a frost-timbrel and led the women in the Song of Mirah — the oldest hymn of the faith and the seed of all Frostian psalmody.
The Mother of Praise
As Borën gave the Law, Mirah gave the song — and Frostian tradition holds the two gifts inseparable: “the Law keeps the people; the song keeps the heart.” She is honored as foremother of the Cold Psalter and of all who lead the Cold’s praise. The Book of Boren (Lawgiving) preserves her song and her later murmuring and mercy.
Veneration
