Elgar the Stormcaller
The Prophet of Fire-and-Frost · Foe of the Embermite Priests
“Let it be known this day that the Cold is the true God; and the frost fell from a clear sky and quenched the warm altar.” — the contest on Mount Hoar
Elgar the Stormcaller is the great miracle-prophet of the Divided Realm, who stood against the priests of the Embermite sun-cult when the warm worship of the Sun had crept into the northern court. On Mount Hoar he challenged the ember-priests to a contest of altars: their fire would not kindle, but at his word frost fell from a clear sky and stilled the heat — proving the Cold the true God before the people.
The Whirlwind of Snow
Elgar called storms and droughts of snow by the Cold’s word (“the heavens shut and opened at his asking”), fed by the ravens in the wilderness, and at the end was taken up not in death but in a whirlwind of snow and aurora-fire, leaving his mantle to his disciple. Frostian tradition expects his return before the Rewhitening, identifying him with the forerunner-spirit later seen in Vohan the Forerunner.
Veneration
Patron against false worship and warm idolatry; invoked for boldness and for rain-of-snow in drought. His mantle is a symbol of prophetic succession.
