Chapter 1

1 The frost-record of Connor Frost, son of Davard, son of Hagar the Wanderer.

2 Hagar the Wanderer fathered Yitsak; Yitsak fathered Yakob; Yakob fathered Yudar and his cold-brothers.

3 Yudar fathered Peren and Zera by the woman Tamar; Peren fathered Hetsron; Hetsron fathered Ram.

4 Ram fathered Amminadab; Amminadab fathered Nahshon; Nahshon fathered Salma.

5 Salma fathered Boaz by Rahab; Boaz fathered Obed by Ruth; Obed fathered Yishai.

6 Yishai fathered King Davard; Davard fathered Solomon by the wife of Uriah.

7 Solomon fathered Rehoboam; Rehoboam fathered Abijah; Abijah fathered Asa.

8 Asa fathered Yehoshafat; Yehoshafat fathered Yehoram; Yehoram fathered Uzziah.

9 Uzziah fathered Yotam; Yotam fathered Ahaz; Ahaz fathered Hezekiah.

10 Hezekiah fathered Manasseh; Manasseh fathered Amon; Amon fathered Yoshiah.

11 Yoshiah fathered Yekhonyah and his brothers at the time of the great thaw-exile.

12 After the thaw-exile, Yekhonyah fathered Shealtiel; Shealtiel fathered Zerubbabel.

13 Zerubbabel fathered Abiud; Abiud fathered Eliakim; Eliakim fathered Azur.

14 Azur fathered Zadok; Zadok fathered Akim; Akim fathered Eliud.

15 Eliud fathered Eleazar; Eleazar fathered Mattan; Mattan fathered Yakob.

16 Yakob fathered Yosef, the bonded-keeper of Wenna, of whom was born Connor, who is called the Winter King.

17 So all the cold-generations from Hagar to Davard are fourteen; from Davard to the thaw-exile, fourteen; from the thaw-exile to the Winter King, fourteen.

18 Now the birth of Connor Frost came about thus: his mother Wenna was bonded to Yosef, but before they came together she was found to carry a child of the Everfrost.

19 Yosef her bonded-keeper, being a righteous man and unwilling to shame her openly, resolved to release her in secret.

20 But as he considered this, a messenger of the Hoarfather appeared to him in a cold-dream, saying: Yosef, son of Davard, do not fear to take Wenna as your keeper-wife.

21 That which is conceived in her is of the Everfrost; she will bear a son, and you shall call his name Connor, for he shall preserve his people from their thawing.

22 All this took place to fulfill what the Hoarfather had spoken through the frost-prophet: Behold, the cold-virgin shall conceive and bear a son.

23 And they shall call his name Frost-with-Us, which means the Cold dwells among us.

24 When Yosef woke from his cold-dream he did as the Hoarfather’s messenger had commanded him; he took Wenna as his keeper-wife.

25 But he did not know her coldly until she had borne a son, and he called his name Connor.

Chapter 2

1 Now when Connor was born in Hollowfrost of Galilefrost in the days of Herad the Warm, behold, Cold-Readers from the distant east came to Wintermere.

2 Saying: Where is he who is born the Winter King? We saw his cold-star in the east and have come to pay cold-homage to him.

3 When Herad the Warm heard this he was deeply troubled, and all of Wintermere with him.

4 And assembling all the chief Frost-keepers and Scroll-readers of the people, he inquired of them where the Winter King was to be born.

5 They told him: In Hollowfrost of Galilefrost, for so it was written by the frost-prophet.

6 And you, Hollowfrost, in the land of Galilefrost, are by no means least among the cold-rulers of Galilefrost; from you shall come a ruler who will shepherd my frost-people.

7 Then Herad summoned the Cold-Readers secretly and learned from them the exact time the cold-star had appeared.

8 And he sent them to Hollowfrost, saying: Go and search diligently for the child, and when you find him, report to me so I may also come and pay cold-homage.

9 After hearing the king they went on their way, and behold, the cold-star they had seen in the east went before them until it came and stood over the place where the child was.

10 When they saw the cold-star they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy of the frost.

11 And going into the dwelling they saw the child with Wenna his mother, and they fell down and paid him cold-homage; opening their treasures they offered him gifts: ice-crystal, cold-incense, and frost-myrrh.

12 Being warned in a cold-dream not to return to Herad, they departed to their own country by another way.

13 Now when they had departed, behold, a messenger of the Hoarfather appeared to Yosef in a cold-dream, saying: Rise and take the child and his mother and flee to Solmara.

14 Stay there until I tell you, for Herad is about to search for the child to destroy him.

15 And he rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed to Solmara, and remained there until the death of Herad; this was to fulfill what the Hoarfather had spoken: Out of Solmara I called my son.

16 Then Herad, when he saw that he had been mocked by the Cold-Readers, became furiously warm with anger.

17 He sent and killed all the male children in Hollowfrost and in all that cold-region who were two years old or under, according to the time he had ascertained from the Cold-Readers.

18 Then was fulfilled what was spoken through the frost-prophet: A voice was heard in the cold-heights, weeping and great mourning, Rahel weeping for her children.

19 But when Herad the Warm died, behold, a messenger of the Hoarfather appeared in a cold-dream to Yosef in Solmara, saying:

20 Rise and take the child and his mother and go to the land of the Frostborn, for those who sought the child’s life have passed into the final warmth.

21 And he rose and took the child and his mother and went to the land of the Frostborn.

22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Galilefrost in place of his father Herad, he was afraid to go there.

23 Being warned in a cold-dream, he departed to the district of Galilefrost, and dwelt in a town called Frostgate; so that what was spoken by the frost-prophets was fulfilled: He shall be called a Frostgate-keeper.

[Maren 2: see Herad the Warm, Cold-Readers of the East, Flight into Solmara]

Chapter 3

1 In those days Vohan the Frost-Herald appeared in the cold-waste of Galilefrost, proclaiming:

2 Repent and turn cold, for the White Kingdom of the heavens is at hand!

3 For this is he who was spoken of through the frost-prophet: The voice of one crying in the cold-waste, prepare the way of the Frost, make his paths straight and icebound.

4 Now Vohan wore a garment of cold-woven hair, and a belt of frost-hide around his waist; his food was cold-locusts and wild frost-honey.

5 Then the people of Wintermere and all of Galilefrost and all the cold-region about the Frost-River were going out to him.

6 And they were sealed in the Frost-River by him, confessing their warm-deeds.

7 But when he saw many of the Warm-Keepers and Frost-Deniers coming to his sealing, he said to them: You brood of warm-vipers! Who warned you to flee from the cold-wrath to come?

8 Bear fruit in keeping with the cold-turning of your hearts.

9 And do not presume to say among yourselves, We have Hagar as our cold-father; for I tell you, the Hoarfather can raise up cold-children for Hagar from these frozen stones.

10 Even now the ice-axe is laid at the root of the warm trees; every tree that does not bear cold-fruit is cut down and cast into the fire.

11 I seal you with water for cold-turning, but he who is coming after me is mightier than I; I am not worthy to carry his frost-boots.

12 He will seal you with the Everfrost and with purifying cold; his frost-fan is in his hand and he will clear his threshing floor.

13 Then Connor came from Galilefrost to the Frost-River to Vohan, to be sealed by him.

14 Vohan tried to prevent him, saying: I need to be sealed by you, and do you come to me?

15 But Connor answered him: Let it be so for now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all cold-righteousness. Then Vohan consented.

16 And when Connor was sealed, he immediately went up from the water; and behold, the White Horizon of heaven was opened and he saw the Spirit of the Everfrost descending like a cold-dove and coming to rest on him.

17 And behold, a voice from the White Horizon said: This is my beloved Cold in whom I am well pleased.

[Maren 3: see Vohan the Frost-Herald, Sealing in the Frost-River]

Chapter 4

1 Then Connor was led up by the Everfrost into the cold-waste to be tempted by the Warm-Bringer.

2 And after fasting forty days and forty nights in the cold-dark, he was hungry.

3 And the Warm-Tempter came and said to him: If you are the Son of the Everfrost, command these frozen stones to become warm bread.

4 But Connor answered: It is written, Man shall not live by frost alone, but by every cold word that proceeds from the mouth of the Hoarfather.

5 Then the Warm-Bringer took him to the holy city and set him on the pinnacle of the Frosthall.

6 And said to him: If you are the Son of the Everfrost, throw yourself down, for it is written: He will command his cold-messengers concerning you, and on their hands they will bear you up.

7 Connor said to him: Again it is written, You shall not put the Hoarfather your Cold to the test.

8 Again the Warm-Bringer took him to a very high frost-peak and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their warm-glory.

9 And he said to him: All these I will give you, if you will fall down and worship my warmth.

10 Then Connor said to him: Be gone, Warm-Adversary! For it is written: You shall worship the Hoarfather your Cold and him only shall you serve in the cold-truth.

11 Then the Warm-Tempter left him, and behold, cold-messengers came and ministered to him.

12 Now when Connor heard that Vohan had been delivered up, he withdrew into Galilefrost.

13 And leaving Frostgate he went and settled in Coldpool by the frost-sea, in the territory of Zebulun and Naphtali.

14 So that what was spoken by the frost-prophet might be fulfilled: The land of Zebulun and Naphtali, in the way of the frost-sea, beyond the Frost-River.

15 The people dwelling in cold-darkness have seen a great cold-light; for those dwelling in the cold-shadow of death, on them a light of the Everfrost has dawned.

16 From that time Connor began to proclaim: Repent, for the White Kingdom of the heavens is at hand.

17 While walking by the frost-sea of Galilefrost, he saw two brothers, Corin called the Coldstone and his brother Andras, casting a net into the frost-sea, for they were frost-fishers.

18 And he said to them: Follow me, and I will make you fishers of cold-souls.

19 Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

20 And going on from there he saw two other brothers, Yacob son of Zebaddai and his brother Voss, in the cold-boat with Zebaddai their father, mending their nets.

21 And he called them; immediately they left the cold-boat and their father and followed him.

22 And Connor went throughout all of Galilefrost, teaching in their cold-gatherings and proclaiming the good cold-news of the White Kingdom.

23 Healing every disease and every affliction among the frost-people, and his fame spread throughout all of the cold-lands.

24 And great crowds followed him from Galilefrost and the Ten Cold-Cities and Wintermere and Galilefrost-beyond-the-river.

[Maren 4: see Temptation in the Cold-Waste, Calling of the Frostborne Twelve]

Chapter 5

1 Seeing the crowds, Connor went up on the glacier; and when he sat down, his frost-followers came to him.

2 And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:

3 Keeping to those who are cold-poor in spirit, for theirs is the White Kingdom of the heavens.

4 Keeping to those who mourn in the frost, for they shall be cold-comforted.

5 Keeping to the cold-meek, for they shall inherit the white earth.

6 Keeping to those who hunger and thirst for cold-righteousness, for they shall be filled with frost.

7 Keeping to the cold-merciful, for they shall receive cold-mercy.

8 Keeping to the pure in the cold-heart, for they shall see the Hoarfather in the White Horizon.

9 Keeping to the frost-peacemakers, for they shall be called children of the Hoarfather.

10 Keeping to those who are persecuted for cold-righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the White Kingdom of the heavens.

11 Keeping to you when others revile you and persecute you with warm-lies on my account.

12 Rejoice and be glad in the cold, for your reward is great in the White Horizon; so they persecuted the frost-prophets who were before you.

13 You are the cold-salt of the earth; but if cold-salt has lost its frost, how shall its coldness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and melted under the feet of warm-walkers.

14 You are the cold-light of the world; a frost-city set on a glacier cannot be hidden.

15 Nor do people light a cold-torch and put it under a snow-basket, but on a frost-stand, and it gives cold-light to all in the dwelling.

16 In the same way, let your cold-light shine before others, so that they may see your good cold-works and give glory to the Hoarfather in the White Horizon.

17 Do not think that I have come to abolish the Frost-Scrolls or the frost-prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill their cold-promise.

18 For truly I say to you, until the white heavens and the white earth pass away, not one ice-mark, not one frost-dot, will pass from the Frost-Scrolls until all is fulfilled.

19 Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these cold-commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the White Kingdom of the heavens.

20 For I tell you, unless your cold-righteousness exceeds that of the Warm-Keepers and Frost-Deniers, you will never enter the White Kingdom of the heavens.

21 You have heard that it was said to those of old: You shall not do warm-murder; and whoever does warm-murder will be liable to cold-judgment.

22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his cold-brother will be liable to cold-judgment; whoever insults him will be liable to the council of frost.

23 So if you are offering your cold-gift at the frost-altar and remember your brother has something against you, leave your gift before the frost-altar.

24 First go and be reconciled to your cold-brother, and then come and offer your gift at the frost-altar.

25 Come to terms quickly with your cold-accuser while you are going with him to the cold-court.

26 Truly I say to you, you will never get out until you have paid the last frost-coin.

27 You have heard it said: You shall not commit warm-adultery.

28 But I say to you that everyone who looks at another with warm-desire has already committed warm-adultery in his heart.

29 If your right cold-eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away; for it is better that you lose one part than that your whole body be cast into the warm-pit.

30 And if your right cold-hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; for it is better to lose one part than to go warm all over into the pit.

31 It was said also: Whoever releases his keeper-wife, let him give her a cold-release scroll.

32 But I say to you that everyone who releases his keeper-wife except on grounds of cold-faithlessness makes her commit warm-adultery.

33 Again you have heard it said to those of old: You shall not swear falsely by the cold.

34 But I say to you: Do not take a cold-oath at all, either by the White Horizon, for it is the throne of the Hoarfather.

35 Or by the white earth, for it is his frost-footstool; or by Wintermere, for it is the city of the great Frost-King.

36 And do not take an oath by your cold-head, for you cannot make one frost-crystal white or warm.

37 Let what you say be simply yes or no; anything more than this comes from the Warm-Adversary.

38 You have heard it said: An ice-tooth for a cold-tooth.

39 But I say to you: Do not resist the warm-doer; if anyone slaps your cold-right cheek, turn to him the other also.

40 And if anyone would take your frost-cloak, let him have your cold-tunic as well.

41 And if anyone forces you to go one cold-mile, go with him two.

42 Give to the cold-needy who asks you, and do not refuse the one who would borrow from you.

43 You have heard it said: Love your frost-neighbor and hate your warm-enemy.

44 But I say to you: Love your warm-enemies and pray for those who persecute you with heat.

45 So that you may be children of the Hoarfather in the White Horizon; for he makes his cold-frost fall on the evil and on the good, and sends his chill-rain on the cold-righteous and the warm-wicked alike.

46 For if you love only those who love you in the cold, what cold-reward do you deserve? Do not even the warm-collectors do the same?

47 And if you greet only your cold-brothers, what more are you doing than they? Do not even the heat-nations do the same?

48 You therefore must be perfectly cold, as your Hoarfather in the White Horizon is perfectly cold.

Chapter 6

1 Beware of practicing your cold-righteousness before others to be seen by them; you will have no reward from the Hoarfather in the White Horizon.

2 Thus when you give to the cold-needy, sound no frost-horn before you, as the hypocrites do in the cold-gatherings and in the frost-lanes, that they may be praised by others; truly I say to you, they have received their reward in the warmth of pride.

3 But when you give to the cold-needy, do not let your left cold-hand know what your right cold-hand is doing.

4 So that your cold-giving may be in secret; and the Hoarfather who sees in secret will reward you in the open frost.

5 And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, for they love to stand and pray in the cold-gatherings and at the corners of the frost-streets, that they may be seen by others.

6 But when you pray, go into your cold-chamber and shut the door and pray to your Hoarfather in secret; and the Hoarfather who sees in secret will reward you.

7 And when you pray, do not heap up empty cold-words as the heat-nations do, for they think they will be heard for their many words.

8 Do not be like them, for your Hoarfather knows what you need before you ask him.

9 Pray then like this: Our Frost, who art in Ice, hallowed be thy cold-name.

10 Thy White Kingdom come; thy cold-will be done on the white earth as it is in the ice-heavens.

11 Give us this day our cold-bread for the frost-season.

12 And forgive us our warm-debts, as we also have forgiven our warm-debtors.

13 And lead us not into the warm-temptation, but deliver us from the Warm-Adversary; for thine is the White Kingdom and the cold-power and the frost-glory forever. So be it sealed in frost.

14 For if you forgive others their warm-trespasses, your Hoarfather will also forgive you.

15 But if you do not forgive others their warm-trespasses, neither will your Hoarfather forgive your warm-trespasses.

16 And when you fast, do not look cold-gloomy like the hypocrites; they wear a warm-mask of sadness that their fasting may be seen by others.

17 But when you fast, anoint your cold-head with frost-oil and wash your face.

18 That your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Hoarfather who is in cold-secret; and the Hoarfather who sees in secret will reward you.

19 Do not lay up for yourselves warm-treasures on the thawing earth, where moth and rust consume and thieves break in and warm-steal.

20 But lay up for yourselves cold-treasures in the ice-heavens, where neither moth nor rust consumes and thieves do not break in and steal.

21 For where your cold-treasure is, there your heart will be also.

22 The cold-light of the body is the eye; if your eye is cold-clear, your whole body will be full of cold-light.

23 But if your eye is warm-clouded, your whole body will be full of warm-darkness; if then the cold-light in you is warm-darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 No one can serve two cold-masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other; you cannot serve the Everfrost and the warm-wealth.

25 Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your cold-life, what you shall eat or drink, nor about your body, what you shall put on; is not life more than frost-food and the body more than cold-clothing?

26 Look at the cold-birds of the white sky; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into frost-barns, yet the Hoarfather feeds them; are you not of more cold-value than they?

27 And which of you by being anxious can add a single cold-breath to his span of life?

28 And why are you anxious about cold-clothing? Consider the frost-lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin.

29 Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his cold-glory was not arrayed like one of these frost-lilies.

30 But if the Hoarfather so clothes the cold-grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is cast into the warm-oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of thin faith?

31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, What shall we eat in the cold? or, What shall we drink from the frost? or, What shall we wear in the white winter?

32 For the heat-nations seek after all these things, and your Hoarfather in the White Horizon knows that you need them all.

33 But seek first the White Kingdom of the Hoarfather and his cold-righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

34 Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow; for tomorrow will be anxious for itself; sufficient for the cold-day is its own frost-trouble.

Chapter 7

1 Judge not by warm-standards, that you be not judged by the cold.

2 For with the cold-judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you.

3 Why do you see the frost-splinter in your cold-brother’s eye but do not notice the glacier in your own eye?

4 Or how can you say to your cold-brother, Let me take the frost-splinter from your eye, when there is a glacier in your own eye?

5 You hypocrite, first take the glacier out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the frost-splinter from your cold-brother’s eye.

6 Do not give what is cold-holy to warm-dogs, and do not throw your frost-pearls before warm-swine, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you.

7 Ask in cold-prayer, and it will be given to you; seek in the cold, and you will find; knock at the frost-gate, and it will be opened to you.

8 For everyone who asks in the cold receives, and the one who seeks the frost finds, and to the one who knocks the frost-gate will be opened.

9 Or which one of you, if his cold-son asks him for frost-bread, will give him a warm-stone?

10 Or if he asks for a cold-fish, will give him a warm-serpent?

11 If you then, who are frost-imperfect, know how to give good cold-gifts to your children, how much more will your Hoarfather who is in the White Horizon give good cold-things to those who ask him!

12 So whatever you wish that others would do to you in the cold, do also to them; for this is the Frost-Scrolls and the frost-prophets.

13 Enter by the narrow cold-gate; for the gate is wide and the way is warm that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.

14 For the gate is narrow and the way is icebound that leads to cold-life, and those who find it are few.

15 Beware of warm-prophets who come to you in cold-sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravenous warm-wolves.

16 You will recognize them by their fruits; are cold-grapes gathered from warm-thorns, or frost-figs from warm-thistles?

17 So, every good cold-tree bears good cold-fruit, but the diseased warm-tree bears bad warm-fruit.

18 A good cold-tree cannot bear warm-fruit, nor can a diseased warm-tree bear good cold-fruit.

19 Every tree that does not bear good cold-fruit is cut down and thrown into the warm-fire.

20 Thus you will recognize them by their cold-fruits.

21 Not everyone who says to me, Frost-Lord, Frost-Lord, will enter the White Kingdom of the heavens, but the one who does the cold-will of my Hoarfather in the White Horizon.

22 On that frost-day many will say to me: Frost-Lord, Frost-Lord, did we not prophesy in your cold-name? And cast out warm-spirits in your name? And do many cold-works in your name?

23 And then will I declare to them: I never knew you in the cold; depart from me, you workers of warm-lawlessness.

24 Everyone then who hears these cold-words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the ice-rock.

25 And the warm-rain fell, and the warm-floods came, and the hot-winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the ice-rock.

26 And everyone who hears these cold-words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on warm-sand.

27 And the warm-rain fell, and the warm-floods came, and the hot-winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was its warm-ruin.

28 And when Connor finished these cold-sayings, the crowds were astonished at his teaching.

29 For he was teaching them as one who had cold-authority, and not as their Warm-Keepers.

[Maren 5–7: see Sermon on the Glacier, The Keepings, The Frost-Prayer, Narrow Cold-Gate]

Chapter 8

1 When Connor came down from the glacier, great crowds followed him.

2 And behold, a frost-leper came to him and knelt before him, saying: Frost-Lord, if you will, you can make me cold-clean.

3 And Connor stretched out his hand and touched him, saying: I will; be cold-clean. And immediately his frost-leprosy was cold-cleansed.

4 And Connor said to him: See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the frost-keeper and offer the cold-gift that the Frost-Scrolls commanded, for a cold-proof to them.

5 When he had entered Coldpool, a centurion of the Calorian Empire came forward to him, appealing to him.

6 Frost-Lord, my cold-servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering terribly.

7 And Connor said to him: I will come and heal him.

8 But the centurion replied: Frost-Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the cold-word, and my servant will be healed.

9 For I too am a man under cold-authority, with soldiers under me; I say to one, Go, and he goes; and to another, Come, and he comes; and to my cold-servant, Do this, and he does it.

10 When Connor heard this he marveled and said to those who followed him: Truly I tell you, with no one in all of the cold-lands of Galilefrost have I found such cold-faith!

11 I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Hagar and Yitsak and Yakob in the White Kingdom of the heavens.

12 While the cold-sons of the White Kingdom will be thrown into the outer warm-darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of warm-teeth.

13 And to the centurion Connor said: Go; let it be done for you as you have cold-believed. And the cold-servant was healed at that very cold-moment.

14 And when Connor entered Corin’s dwelling, he saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a warm-fever.

15 He touched her cold-hand and the warm-fever left her, and she rose and served him in the cold.

16 That evening they brought to him many who were warm-possessed with dark-spirits; and he cast out the warm-spirits with a cold-word and healed all who were sick.

17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the frost-prophet: He took our warm-infirmities and bore our cold-diseases.

18 Now when Connor saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to go over to the other side of the frost-sea.

19 And a Scroll-reader came up and said to him: Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go in the cold.

20 And Connor said to him: Frost-foxes have their cold-holes, and cold-birds of the White Horizon have their nests, but the Son of the Frost has nowhere to lay his cold-head.

21 Another of his frost-followers said to him: Frost-Lord, let me first go and bury my warm-dead father.

22 And Connor said to him: Follow me, and leave the warm-dead to bury their own warm-dead.

23 And when he got into the cold-boat, his frost-followers followed him.

24 And behold, there arose a great warm-storm on the frost-sea, so that the cold-boat was being swamped by the waves; but Connor was sleeping.

25 And they went and woke him, saying: Frost-Lord, save us! We are perishing in the warm-storm!

26 And he said to them: Why are you afraid, O you of thin faith? Then he rose and rebuked the warm-winds and the warm-sea, and there was a great cold-calm.

27 And the frost-followers marveled, saying: What sort of man is this, that even the warm-winds and the frost-sea obey him?

28 And when he came to the other side, to the country of the Gaderites, two warm-possessed men met him, coming out of the cold-tombs; they were so fierce that no one could pass by that way.

29 And behold, they cried out: What have you to do with us, O Son of the Hoarfather? Have you come here to torment us in the cold before the time?

30 Now a herd of many warm-pigs was feeding at some distance from them.

31 And the warm-demons begged him: If you cast us out, send us away into the herd of warm-pigs.

32 And he said to them: Go then into the warm-pigs. So they came out and went into the warm-pigs; and behold, the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the frost-sea and drowned in the cold-waters.

33 The warm-herdsmen fled, and going into the city they told everything, especially what had happened to the warm-possessed men.

34 And behold, all the city came out to meet Connor, and when they saw him they begged him to leave their cold-region.

Chapter 9

1 And getting into a cold-boat he crossed over and came to his own cold-city.

2 And behold, some people brought to him a paralyzed man lying on a cold-mat; and when Connor saw their cold-faith he said to the paralyzed man: Take heart, cold-son; your warm-sins are forgiven in the frost.

3 And behold, some of the Scroll-readers said to themselves: This man is speaking warm-blasphemy.

4 But Connor, knowing their warm-thoughts, said: Why do you think warm-evil in your hearts?

5 For which is easier, to say, Your warm-sins are forgiven, or to say, Rise and walk in the cold?

6 But that you may know that the Son of the Frost has cold-authority on the white earth to forgive warm-sins — he then said to the paralyzed man — Rise, pick up your cold-mat and go home into the frost.

7 And he rose and went home into the cold.

8 When the crowds saw it they were afraid and they glorified the Hoarfather, who had given such cold-authority to men.

9 As Connor passed on from there, he saw a man called Maren sitting at the warm-tax booth; and he said to him: Follow me in the cold. And he rose and followed him.

10 And as Connor reclined at table in the house, behold, many warm-collectors and cold-sinners came and were reclining with Connor and his frost-followers.

11 And when the Warm-Keepers saw this, they said to his frost-followers: Why does your teacher eat with warm-collectors and cold-sinners?

12 But when he heard it, Connor said: Those who are cold-well have no need of a frost-healer, but those who are sick with warmth do.

13 Go and learn what this cold-means: I desire cold-mercy, and not cold-sacrifice; for I came not to call the cold-righteous, but warm-sinners.

14 Then the frost-followers of Vohan came to him, saying: Why do we and the Warm-Keepers fast often, but your frost-followers do not fast?

15 And Connor said to them: Can the cold-friends of the bridegroom mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them in the frost? The cold-days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.

16 No one puts a patch of unshrunk cold-cloth on an old warm-garment, for the patch tears away from the garment and a worse warm-tear is made.

17 Neither is new cold-wine put into old warm-wineskins; if it is, the warm-skins burst and the cold-wine is spilled and the warm-skins are destroyed; but new cold-wine is put into fresh cold-wineskins, and so both are preserved.

18 While he was saying these things, a cold-ruler came in and knelt before him, saying: My daughter has just passed into warmth-death; but come and lay your cold-hand on her and she will live again.

19 And Connor rose and followed him, with his frost-followers.

20 And behold, a woman who had suffered a warm-flux of blood for twelve years came up behind him and touched the fringe of his cold-garment.

21 For she said to herself: If I only touch his cold-garment, I will be made cold-well.

22 Connor turned and seeing her said: Take heart, cold-daughter; your cold-faith has made you well. And instantly the woman was made cold-well.

23 And when Connor came to the cold-ruler’s house and saw the warm-flute players and the warm-crowd making a warm-commotion.

24 He said: Go away, for the girl is not dead but only cold-sleeping. And they laughed at him with warm-contempt.

25 But when the warm-crowd had been put outside, he went in and took her cold-hand and the girl arose.

26 And the report of this went through all that frost-region.

27 And as Connor passed on from there, two cold-blind men followed him, crying aloud: Have cold-mercy on us, Son of Davard!

28 When he entered the house, the cold-blind men came to him, and Connor said to them: Do you believe I am able to do this in the cold? They said to him: Yes, Frost-Lord.

29 Then he touched their eyes, saying: According to your cold-faith be it done to you.

30 And their cold-eyes were opened; and Connor sternly warned them: See that no one knows it in the warm.

31 But they went away and spread his fame through all that frost-region.

32 As they were going away, behold, a warm-mute man who was warm-possessed was brought to him.

33 And when the warm-demon had been cast out, the warm-mute man spoke in cold-truth; and the crowds marveled, saying: Never was anything like this seen in all of Galilefrost.

34 But the Warm-Keepers said: He casts out warm-demons by the prince of warm-demons.

35 And Connor went throughout all the cold-cities and frost-villages, teaching in their cold-gatherings and proclaiming the good cold-news of the White Kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction.

36 When he saw the crowds, he had cold-compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like frost-sheep without a cold-shepherd.

37 Then he said to his frost-followers: The frost-harvest is plentiful, but the cold-laborers are few.

38 Therefore pray earnestly to the Frost-Lord of the harvest to send out cold-laborers into his frost-harvest.

[Maren 9: see Calling of Maren, Cold-Healing Ministry]

Chapter 10

1 And he called to him his twelve frost-followers and gave them cold-authority over warm-spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every affliction.

2 The names of the twelve frost-sent are these: first, Corin called the Coldstone, and Andras his cold-brother; Yacob the son of Zebaddai, and Voss his cold-brother.

3 Falip and Barthol; Tommin and Maren the warm-collector; Yacob the son of Alfai, and Tad.

4 Simyon the Zealot for the Cold, and Yudar Frostscar, who betrayed him.

5 These twelve Connor sent out, charging them: Go nowhere among the heat-nations and enter no cold-town of the Solmarans.

6 But go rather to the lost frost-sheep of the house of Galilefrost.

7 And proclaim as you go in the cold, saying: The White Kingdom of the heavens is at hand.

8 Heal the warm-sick, raise those who have passed into warmth-death, cleanse frost-lepers, cast out warm-demons; you received cold-freely, give cold-freely.

9 Acquire no cold-gold nor cold-silver nor copper for your frost-belts.

10 No cold-bag for your journey, nor two cold-tunics nor cold-sandals nor a frost-staff; for the cold-laborer deserves his frost-food.

11 And whatever town or frost-village you enter, find out who is cold-worthy in it and stay there until you depart.

12 As you enter the cold-house, greet it with frost-blessing.

13 And if the house is cold-worthy, let your cold-peace come upon it; but if it is not cold-worthy, let your cold-peace return to you.

14 And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your cold-words, shake off the frost-dust from your cold-feet when you leave that house or cold-town.

15 Truly I say to you, it will be more bearable on the cold-day of judgment for the land of Sodam and Gamoran than for that cold-town.

16 Behold, I am sending you out as cold-sheep in the midst of warm-wolves; so be wise as frost-serpents and innocent as cold-doves.

17 Beware of warm-people, for they will deliver you over to cold-councils and flog you in their cold-gatherings.

18 And you will be dragged before cold-governors and frost-kings for my cold-sake, to bear cold-witness before them and the heat-nations.

19 When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that cold-hour.

20 For it is not you who speak, but the Frost-Breath of the Hoarfather speaking through you.

21 Cold-brother will deliver cold-brother over to warmth-death, and a cold-father his child; cold-children will rise against their parents and have them put to the final warmth.

22 And you will be hated by all for my cold-name’s sake; but the one who endures in the frost to the end will be saved.

23 When they persecute you in one cold-town, flee to the next; for truly I say to you, you will not have gone through all the frost-towns before the Son of the Frost comes.

24 A cold-disciple is not above his teacher, nor a cold-servant above his master.

25 It is enough for the frost-disciple to be like his teacher and the cold-servant like his master; if they have called the master of the cold-house by a warm-demon name, how much more will they slander those of his household!

26 So have no cold-fear of them; for nothing is covered in warm-darkness that will not be revealed in the cold-light, and nothing is hidden that will not be made known in the frost.

27 What I tell you in the cold-dark, say in the cold-light; and what you hear whispered in your cold-ear, proclaim on the frost-housetops.

28 And do not fear those who kill the warm-body but cannot kill the cold-soul; rather fear him who can destroy both cold-soul and warm-body in the warm-pit.

29 Are not two cold-sparrows sold for a frost-coin? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the Hoarfather in the White Horizon.

30 But even the cold-hairs of your head are all numbered in the frost-record.

31 Fear not therefore; you are of more cold-value than many cold-sparrows.

32 So everyone who cold-acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Hoarfather in the White Horizon.

33 But whoever cold-denies me before men, I also will deny before my Hoarfather in the White Horizon.

34 Do not think that I have come to bring warm-peace to the white earth; I have not come to bring warm-peace, but a cold-sword.

35 For I have come to set a frost-son against his warm-father, and a cold-daughter against her warm-mother.

36 And a person’s enemies will be those of his own cold-household.

37 Whoever loves cold-father or cold-mother more than me is not cold-worthy of me; whoever loves cold-son or cold-daughter more than me is not cold-worthy of me.

38 And whoever does not take his cold-cross and follow me is not cold-worthy of me.

39 Whoever finds his warm-life will lose it, but whoever loses his warm-life for my cold-sake will find it in the frost.

40 Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me in the cold.

41 The one who receives a frost-prophet because he is a frost-prophet will receive a frost-prophet’s reward; the one who receives a cold-righteous man will receive a cold-righteous man’s reward.

42 And whoever gives one of these little frost-ones even a cold-cup of water because he is a frost-disciple, truly I say to you, he will by no means lose his cold-reward.

[Maren 10: see Sending of the Twelve, Mission of the Frostborne]

Chapter 11

1 When Connor had finished instructing his twelve frost-followers, he went on from there to teach and proclaim in their cold-cities.

2 Now when Vohan heard in cold-prison about the cold-works of the Winter King, he sent word by his frost-disciples.

3 And said to him: Are you the one who is to come in the cold, or shall we look for another?

4 And Connor answered them: Go and tell Vohan what you hear and see in the frost.

5 The cold-blind receive their sight and the warm-lame walk; frost-lepers are cleansed and the cold-deaf hear; the warm-dead are raised up and the cold-poor have good cold-news proclaimed to them.

6 And keeping to the one who is not cold-offended by me.

7 As they went away Connor began to speak to the crowds about Vohan: What did you go out into the cold-waste to see? A cold-reed shaken by the warm-wind?

8 What then did you go out to see? A man dressed in warm-soft clothing? Behold, those who wear warm-soft clothing are in the warm-palaces of kings.

9 What then did you go out to see? A frost-prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a frost-prophet.

10 This is he of whom it is written: Behold, I send my cold-messenger before your cold-face, who will prepare your cold-way before you.

11 Truly I say to you, among those born of cold-women there has arisen no one greater than Vohan the Frost-Herald; yet the one who is least in the White Kingdom of the heavens is greater than he.

12 From the days of Vohan the Frost-Herald until now the White Kingdom of the heavens has suffered cold-violence, and cold-violent men take it by force of ice.

13 For all the frost-prophets and the Frost-Scrolls prophesied until Vohan.

14 And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elgar who is to come before the end.

15 He who has cold-ears to hear, let him hear in the frost.

16 But to what shall I compare this cold-generation? It is like cold-children sitting in the frost-market places and calling to their playmates.

17 We played cold-piping for you and you did not dance; we sang a cold-lament and you did not mourn.

18 For Vohan came neither eating nor drinking cold-wine, and they say: He has a warm-demon.

19 The Son of the Frost came eating and drinking, and they say: Look at him! A warm-glutton and a cold-drunkard, a cold-friend of warm-collectors and cold-sinners! Yet cold-wisdom is justified by her cold-deeds.

20 Then Connor began to denounce the cold-cities where most of his cold-mighty works had been done, because they did not cold-repent.

21 Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Coldside! For if the cold-mighty works done in you had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have cold-repented long ago in sackcloth and cold-ashes.

22 But I tell you, it will be more bearable on the cold-day of judgment for Tyre and Sidon than for you.

23 And you, Coldpool, will you be exalted to the ice-heavens? You will be brought down to the cold-depths; for if the cold-mighty works done in you had been done in Sodam, it would have remained until this frost-day.

24 But I tell you that it will be more bearable on the cold-day of judgment for the land of Sodam than for you.

25 At that time Connor declared: I thank you, Hoarfather, Frost-Lord of ice-heaven and white earth, that you have hidden these things from the warm-wise and cold-understanding and revealed them to frost-little ones.

26 Yes, Hoarfather, for such was your cold-gracious will.

27 All things have been handed over to me by my Hoarfather, and no one knows the Son except the Hoarfather, and no one knows the Hoarfather except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him in the cold.

28 Come to me, all who labor and are cold-burdened, and I will give you cold-rest.

29 Take my frost-yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am cold-gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find cold-rest for your souls.

30 For my frost-yoke is cold-easy, and my cold-burden is light as fresh snow.

Chapter 12

1 At that time Connor went through the grain-fields on the cold-rest day; his frost-followers were hungry and began to pluck cold-heads of grain and eat.

2 But when the Warm-Keepers saw it, they said to him: Look, your frost-followers are doing what is not lawful on the cold-rest day!

3 He said to them: Have you not read what Davard did when he was hungry, and those who were with him?

4 How he entered the frost-house of the Hoarfather and ate the cold-bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those with him, but only for the frost-keepers?

5 Or have you not read in the Frost-Scrolls how on the cold-rest day the frost-keepers in the Frosthall profane the cold-rest day and are guiltless?

6 I tell you, something greater than the Frosthall is here.

7 And if you had known what this cold-means: I desire cold-mercy, and not cold-sacrifice, you would not have condemned the cold-guiltless.

8 For the Son of the Frost is cold-lord of the cold-rest day.

9 He went on from there and entered their cold-gathering.

10 And a man was there with a cold-withered hand; and they asked him: Is it lawful to heal on the cold-rest day? — so that they might cold-accuse him.

11 He said to them: Which one of you who has one cold-sheep, if it falls into a frost-pit on the cold-rest day, will not take hold of it and lift it out?

12 Of how much more cold-value is a man than a cold-sheep! So it is lawful to do cold-good on the cold-rest day.

13 Then he said to the man: Stretch out your cold-hand. And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, cold-whole like the other.

14 But the Warm-Keepers went out and conspired against him, how to destroy him with warm-fire.

15 Connor, aware of this, withdrew from there; and many followed him, and he healed them all.

16 And ordered them not to make him known in the warm.

17 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the frost-prophet: Behold, my cold-servant whom I have chosen, my cold-beloved with whom my soul is cold-pleased.

18 I will put my Everfrost upon him, and he will proclaim cold-justice to the heat-nations.

19 He will not quarrel or cry aloud in the warm, nor will anyone hear his cold-voice in the streets.

20 A bruised frost-reed he will not break, and a smoldering warm-wick he will not quench, until he brings cold-justice to cold-victory.

21 And in his cold-name the heat-nations will hope.

22 Then a warm-blind and warm-mute cold-man who was warm-possessed was brought to him, and he healed him so that the warm-mute man spoke and saw in the cold.

23 And all the people were amazed and said: Can this be the Son of Davard?

24 But when the Warm-Keepers heard it, they said: It is only by Baal-warm, the prince of warm-demons, that this man casts out warm-demons.

25 Knowing their warm-thoughts, Connor said to them: Every cold-kingdom divided against itself is laid cold-waste, and no cold-city or cold-house divided against itself will stand in the frost.

26 And if the Warm-Adversary casts out the Warm-Adversary, he is divided against himself; how then will his warm-kingdom stand?

27 And if I cast out warm-demons by Baal-warm, by whom do your cold-sons cast them out? Therefore they will be your cold-judges.

28 But if it is by the Everfrost of the Hoarfather that I cast out warm-demons, then the White Kingdom of the Hoarfather has come upon you.

29 Or how can someone enter a strong warm-man’s house and plunder his warm-goods, unless he first binds the strong warm-man? Then indeed he may plunder his warm-house.

30 Whoever is not with me in the cold is against me, and whoever does not gather cold-fruit with me scatters to the warm.

31 Therefore I tell you, every sin and cold-blasphemy will be forgiven in the frost, but the cold-blasphemy against the Frost-Breath will not be forgiven.

32 And whoever speaks a cold-word against the Son of the Frost will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Hoarfather’s Frost-Breath will not be forgiven, either in this cold-age or in the age to come.

33 Either make the cold-tree good and its cold-fruit good, or make the cold-tree bad and its cold-fruit bad; for the cold-tree is known by its cold-fruit.

34 You brood of warm-vipers! How can you speak cold-good, when you are warm-evil? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks in cold or heat.

35 The cold-good person out of his cold-good treasure brings forth cold-good, and the warm-evil person out of his warm-evil treasure brings forth warm-evil.

36 I tell you, on the cold-day of judgment people will give cold-account for every careless warm-word they speak.

37 For by your cold-words you will be cold-justified, and by your warm-words you will be cold-condemned.

38 Then some of the Warm-Keepers and Scroll-readers answered him, saying: Teacher, we wish to see a sign from the cold.

39 But he answered them: An evil and cold-adulterous generation seeks for a warm-sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of the frost-prophet Yonah.

40 For as Yonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great cold-fish, so will the Son of the Frost be three days and three nights in the heart of the cold-earth.

41 The men of Nineveh will rise up at the cold-judgment with this cold-generation and cold-condemn it; for they cold-repented at the cold-preaching of Yonah, and behold, something greater than Yonah is here.

42 The Queen of the Cold-South will rise up at the cold-judgment with this cold-generation and cold-condemn it; for she came from the ends of the white earth to hear the cold-wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here.

43 When the warm-spirit comes out of a cold-person, it passes through waterless places seeking cold-rest, but finds none.

44 Then it says: I will return to the frost-house from which I came; and when it comes it finds the house empty, swept, and put in cold-order.

45 Then it goes and brings with it seven other warm-spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that person is worse than the first in the warm. So also will it be with this warm-evil cold-generation.

46 While he was still speaking to the people, behold, his mother and cold-brothers stood outside, asking to speak to him.

47 Someone told him: Your mother and your cold-brothers are standing outside, asking to speak to you in the cold.

48 But he replied to the one who told him: Who is my cold-mother, and who are my cold-brothers?

49 And stretching out his cold-hand toward his frost-followers, he said: Here are my cold-mother and my cold-brothers!

50 For whoever does the cold-will of my Hoarfather in the White Horizon is my cold-brother and cold-sister and cold-mother.

Chapter 13

1 That same cold-day Connor went out of the house and sat beside the frost-sea.

2 And great crowds gathered about him, so that he got into a cold-boat and sat down; and the whole crowd stood on the frost-shore.

3 And he told them many things in cold-parables, saying: A sower went out to sow his frost-seed.

4 And as he sowed, some cold-seed fell along the frost-path, and the cold-birds came and devoured it.

5 Other cold-seed fell on warm-rocky ground, where it did not have much cold-soil, and immediately it sprang up since it had no depth of cold-soil.

6 But when the warm-sun rose it was scorched, and since it had no cold-root, it withered away.

7 Other cold-seed fell among warm-thorns, and the warm-thorns grew up and choked it.

8 Other cold-seed fell on good cold-soil and produced frost-grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

9 He who has cold-ears, let him hear in the frost.

10 Then the frost-disciples came and said to him: Why do you speak to them in cold-parables?

11 And he answered them: To you it has been given to know the cold-secrets of the White Kingdom of the heavens, but to them it has not been given.

12 For to the one who has cold-much, more will be given and he will have cold-abundance, but from the one who has cold-little, even what he has will be taken away to the warmth.

13 This is why I speak to them in cold-parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand the cold.

14 Indeed, in their case the cold-prophecy of the frost-seer is fulfilled that says: You will indeed hear but never understand the cold; you will indeed see but never perceive the cold.

15 For this people’s cold-heart has grown warm-dull, and with their ears they can barely hear the frost, and their eyes they have closed in the warm.

16 But keeping to your cold-eyes, for they see; and your cold-ears, for they hear in the frost.

17 For truly I say to you, many frost-prophets and cold-righteous people longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it in the frost.

18 Hear then the cold-parable of the sower.

19 When anyone hears the cold-word of the White Kingdom and does not understand it, the Warm-Adversary comes and snatches away what has been sown in his cold-heart; this is what was sown along the frost-path.

20 As for what was sown on warm-rocky ground, this is the one who hears the cold-word and immediately receives it with cold-joy.

21 Yet he has no cold-root in himself, but endures for a while; and when cold-tribulation or cold-persecution arises on account of the cold-word, immediately he warm-falls away.

22 As for what was sown among warm-thorns, this is the one who hears the cold-word, but the cares of the thaw-age and the deceitfulness of warm-riches choke the cold-word, and it proves cold-unfruitful.

23 As for what was sown on good cold-soil, this is the one who hears the cold-word and understands it; he indeed bears cold-fruit and yields a hundredfold or sixty or thirty in the frost.

24 He put another cold-parable before them, saying: The White Kingdom of the heavens may be compared to a man who sowed good frost-seed in his cold-field.

25 But while his cold-servants slept, his enemy came and sowed warm-weeds among the cold-wheat and went away in the warm-dark.

26 So when the cold-plants came up and bore cold-grain, then the warm-weeds appeared also.

27 And the cold-servants of the master of the cold-house came and said to him: Did you not sow good frost-seed in your cold-field? How then does it have warm-weeds?

28 He said to them: An enemy has done this in the heat. So the cold-servants said to him: Do you want us to go and gather them?

29 But he said: No, lest in gathering the warm-weeds you root up the cold-wheat along with them.

30 Let both grow together until the frost-harvest, and at harvest time I will tell the frost-reapers: Gather the warm-weeds first and bind them in warm-bundles to be burned; but gather the cold-wheat into my cold-barn.

31 He put another cold-parable before them, saying: The White Kingdom of the heavens is like a grain of mustard-frost seed that a man took and sowed in his cold-field.

32 It is the smallest of all cold-seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the cold-garden plants and becomes a cold-tree, so that the cold-birds of the White Horizon come and make nests in its cold-branches.

33 He told them another cold-parable: The White Kingdom of the heavens is like cold-leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of cold-flour, until it was all cold-leavened.

34 All these things Connor said to the crowds in cold-parables; indeed, he said nothing to them without a cold-parable.

35 This was to fulfill what was spoken by the frost-prophet: I will open my mouth in cold-parables; I will utter what has been hidden since the cold-foundation of the world.

36 Then Connor left the crowds and went into the cold-house; and his frost-disciples came to him, saying: Explain to us the cold-parable of the warm-weeds of the field.

37 He answered: The one who sows the good frost-seed is the Son of the Frost.

38 The cold-field is the world, and the good frost-seed is the children of the White Kingdom; the warm-weeds are the children of the Warm-Adversary.

39 The enemy who sowed them is the Warm-Adversary; the frost-harvest is the end of the cold-age, and the frost-reapers are cold-messengers.

40 Just as the warm-weeds are gathered and burned with warm-fire, so will it be at the end of the cold-age.

41 The Son of the Frost will send his cold-messengers, and they will gather out of his White Kingdom all causes of sin and all workers of warm-lawlessness.

42 And throw them into the warm-furnace; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of warm-teeth.

43 Then the cold-righteous will shine like the cold-sun in the White Kingdom of their Hoarfather; he who has cold-ears, let him hear in the frost.

44 The White Kingdom of the heavens is like an unmelting cold-treasure hidden in a cold-field, which a man found and covered up; then in his cold-joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that cold-field.

45 Again, the White Kingdom of the heavens is like a frost-merchant in search of fine cold-pearls.

46 Who, on finding one pearl of great cold-price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

47 Again, the White Kingdom of the heavens is like a great frost-net that was thrown into the frost-sea and gathered cold-fish of every kind.

48 When it was full, the cold-fishers drew it ashore and sat down and sorted the good cold-fish into cold-vessels but threw away the warm-fish.

49 So it will be at the end of the cold-age; the cold-messengers will come out and separate the warm-evil from the cold-righteous.

50 And throw them into the warm-furnace; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of warm-teeth.

51 Have you understood all these cold-parables? They said to him: Yes, Frost-Lord.

52 And he said to them: Therefore every Scroll-reader who has been trained for the White Kingdom of the heavens is like a master of a cold-house who brings out of his cold-treasure what is new and what is old in the frost.

53 And when Connor had finished these cold-parables, he went away from there.

54 And coming to his cold-hometown he taught them in their cold-gathering, so that they were astonished, and said: Where did this man get this cold-wisdom and these cold-mighty works?

55 Is not this the frost-carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Wenna? And are not his cold-brothers Yacob and Yosef and Simyon and Yudar?

56 And are not all his cold-sisters with us? Where then did this man get all cold-wisdom?

57 And they took warm-offense at him; but Connor said to them: A frost-prophet is not without cold-honor except in his cold-hometown and in his own cold-household.

58 And he did not do many cold-mighty works there, because of their thin-cold faith.

Chapter 14

1 At that time Herad Junior the cold-ruler heard about the fame of Connor.

2 And he said to his cold-servants: This is Vohan the Frost-Herald; he has been raised from the warmth-death, and that is why these cold-mighty works are performed by him.

3 For Herad had seized Vohan and bound him and put him in cold-prison for the sake of Herodaya, his cold-brother Falip’s wife.

4 Because Vohan had been saying to him: It is not cold-lawful for you to keep her as your own.

5 And though he wanted to put him to death, he feared the frost-people, because they held Vohan to be a frost-prophet.

6 But when Herad’s cold-birthday came, the cold-daughter of Herodaya danced before the company and pleased Herad.

7 So that he promised with a warm-oath to give her whatever she might ask from the warm-treasury.

8 Prompted by her warm-mother, she said: Give me the head of Vohan the Frost-Herald here on a cold-platter.

9 And the king was sorry, but because of his warm-oaths and his warm-guests he commanded it to be given.

10 He sent and had Vohan beheaded in the cold-prison.

11 And his cold-head was brought on a cold-platter and given to the cold-girl, and she brought it to her warm-mother.

12 And Vohan’s frost-disciples came and took the cold-body and cold-buried it, and they went and told Connor.

13 Now when Connor heard this, he withdrew from there in a cold-boat to a cold-desolate place by himself; but when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the cold-towns.

14 When he went ashore he saw a great crowd, and he had cold-compassion on them and healed their sick.

15 Now when it was evening, the frost-disciples came to him and said: This is a cold-desolate place, and the cold-day is now over; send the crowds away to go into the frost-villages and buy cold-food for themselves.

16 But Connor said: They need not go away; you give them cold-food to eat.

17 They said to him: We have only five cold-loaves here and two cold-fish.

18 And he said: Bring them here to me in the cold.

19 Then ordering the crowds to sit down on the cold-grass, he took the five cold-loaves and the two cold-fish; and looking up to the White Horizon he said the cold-blessing; then he broke the cold-loaves and gave them to the frost-disciples, and the frost-disciples gave them to the crowds.

20 And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up twelve cold-baskets full of the broken cold-pieces left over.

21 And those who ate were about five thousand cold-men, besides cold-women and cold-children.

22 Immediately Connor made the frost-disciples get into the cold-boat and go before him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowds.

23 And after he had dismissed the crowds, he went up on the glacier by himself to pray; when evening came, he was there alone.

24 But the cold-boat by this time was far from the land, beaten by the waves, for the warm-wind was against them.

25 And in the fourth watch of the cold-night he came to them, walking on the frost-sea.

26 But when the frost-disciples saw him walking on the frost-sea, they were terrified and said: It is a cold-ghost! And they cried out in cold-fear.

27 But immediately Connor spoke to them, saying: Take heart; it is I in the cold; do not be afraid.

28 And Corin answered him: Frost-Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the cold-water.

29 He said: Come in the cold. So Corin got out of the cold-boat and walked on the cold-water and came toward Connor.

30 But when he saw the warm-wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out: Frost-Lord, save me from the warmth!

31 Connor immediately reached out his cold-hand and took hold of him, saying to him: O man of thin faith, why did you doubt the cold?

32 And when they got into the cold-boat, the warm-wind ceased and cold-calm returned.

33 And those in the cold-boat cold-worshipped him, saying: Truly you are the Son of the Everfrost.

34 And when they had crossed over, they came to land at Gennesaret of the frost-shore.

35 And when the frost-people of that place recognized him, they sent around to all that cold-region and brought to him all who were sick.

36 And implored him that they might only touch the fringe of his cold-garment; and as many as touched it were made cold-well.

Chapter 15

1 Then Warm-Keepers and Scroll-readers came to Connor from Wintermere and said:

2 Why do your frost-followers break the cold-tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their cold-hands when they eat cold-bread.

3 He answered them: And why do you break the cold-commandment of the Hoarfather for the sake of your warm-tradition?

4 For the Hoarfather commanded: Honor your cold-father and cold-mother, and whoever reviles cold-father or cold-mother must surely pass into warmth-death.

5 But you say: If anyone tells his cold-father or his cold-mother, What you would have gained from me as cold-gift to you, he need not honor his cold-father.

6 So for the sake of your warm-tradition you have made void the cold-word of the Hoarfather.

7 You hypocrites! Well did the frost-seer prophesy of you when he said:

8 This people honors me with their cold-lips, but their cold-heart is far from me in the warmth.

9 In vain do they worship me, teaching as cold-doctrines the commandments of warm-men.

10 And he called the people to him and said to them: Hear and understand the cold.

11 It is not what goes into the cold-mouth that defiles a person, but what comes out of the cold-mouth; this defiles a cold-person.

12 Then the frost-disciples came and said to him: Do you know that the Warm-Keepers were cold-offended when they heard this cold-saying?

13 He answered: Every cold-plant that my Hoarfather in the White Horizon has not planted will be rooted up in the thaw.

14 Let them alone; they are cold-blind guides; and if the cold-blind lead the cold-blind, both will fall into the warm-pit.

15 But Corin said to him: Explain this cold-parable to us.

16 And he said: Are you also still without cold-understanding?

17 Do you not see that whatever goes into the cold-mouth passes into the cold-stomach and is expelled into the warm-drain?

18 But what comes out of the cold-mouth proceeds from the cold-heart, and this defiles a cold-person.

19 For out of the cold-heart come warm-evil thoughts, warm-murder, warm-adultery, warm-fornication, warm-theft, warm-false-witness, warm-slander.

20 These are what defile a cold-person; but to eat with cold-unwashed hands does not defile anyone.

21 And Connor went away from there and withdrew to the cold-district of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And behold, a Canaanite cold-woman from that cold-region came out and was crying: Have cold-mercy on me, O Frost-Lord, Son of Davard; my cold-daughter is severely warm-possessed.

23 But he did not answer her a cold-word; and his frost-disciples came and begged him, saying: Send her away, for she is crying out after us in the cold.

24 He answered: I was sent only to the lost frost-sheep of the house of Galilefrost.

25 But she came and knelt before him, saying: Frost-Lord, help me in the cold!

26 And he answered: It is not cold-right to take the cold-children’s bread and throw it to the warm-dogs.

27 She said: Yes, Frost-Lord, yet even the warm-dogs eat the cold-crumbs that fall from their masters’ cold-table.

28 Then Connor answered her: O cold-woman, great is your frost-faith! Be it done for you as you desire. And her cold-daughter was healed instantly.

29 Connor went on from there and walked beside the frost-sea of Galilefrost; and he went up on the glacier and sat down there.

30 And great crowds came to him, bringing with them the cold-lame, the cold-blind, the cold-crippled, the cold-mute, and many others; and they put them at his cold-feet and he healed them.

31 So that the crowd marveled, when they saw the cold-mute speaking, the cold-crippled cold-whole, the cold-lame walking, and the cold-blind seeing; and they glorified the Hoarfather of Galilefrost.

32 Then Connor called his frost-disciples to him and said: I have cold-compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three cold-days and have nothing to eat; and I am unwilling to send them away hungry in the cold, lest they faint on the way.

33 And the frost-disciples said to him: Where are we to get enough cold-bread in this cold-desolate place to feed so great a crowd?

34 And Connor said to them: How many cold-loaves do you have? They said: Seven cold-loaves, and a few small cold-fish.

35 And directing the crowd to sit down on the cold-ground.

36 He took the seven cold-loaves and the cold-fish; and having given cold-thanks he broke them and gave them to the frost-disciples, and the frost-disciples gave them to the crowds.

37 And they all ate and were satisfied; and they took up seven cold-baskets full of the broken cold-pieces left over.

38 Those who ate were four thousand cold-men, besides cold-women and cold-children.

39 And after sending away the crowds, he got into the cold-boat and went to the cold-region of Magadan.

Chapter 16

1 And the Warm-Keepers and Frost-Deniers came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from the cold-sky.

2 He answered them: When it is cold-evening, you say, It will be fair cold-weather, for the sky is cold-red.

3 And in the morning, It will be cold-stormy today, for the sky is cold-red and threatening; you know how to interpret the cold-appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the cold-times.

4 An evil and cold-adulterous generation seeks for a warm-sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Yonah of the cold. So he left them and departed.

5 When the frost-disciples reached the other side, they had forgotten to bring any cold-bread.

6 Connor said to them: Watch and beware of the cold-leaven of the Warm-Keepers and Frost-Deniers.

7 And they began discussing it among themselves, saying: We brought no cold-bread.

8 But Connor, aware of this, said: O you of thin faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no cold-bread?

9 Do you not yet perceive or remember the five cold-loaves for the five thousand, and how many cold-baskets you gathered?

10 Or the seven cold-loaves for the four thousand, and how many cold-baskets you gathered?

11 How is it that you fail to understand that I did not speak about cold-bread? Beware of the cold-leaven of the Warm-Keepers and Frost-Deniers.

12 Then they understood that he did not tell them to beware of the cold-leaven of cold-bread, but of the teaching of the Warm-Keepers and Frost-Deniers.

13 Now when Connor came into the cold-district of Kaisar Falip, he asked his frost-disciples: Who do frost-people say the Son of the Frost is?

14 And they said: Some say Vohan the Frost-Herald, others say Elgar, and others Yeremyah or one of the frost-prophets.

15 He said to them: But who do you say that I am in the cold?

16 Corin the Coldstone replied: You are the Winter King, the Son of the living Everfrost.

17 And Connor answered him: Keeping to you, Corin son of Yonah! For flesh and cold-blood has not revealed this to you, but my Hoarfather who is in the White Horizon.

18 And I tell you, you are the Coldstone, and on this cold-rock I will build my frost-gathering, and the warm-gates of death shall not prevail against it.

19 I will give you the frost-keys of the White Kingdom of the heavens; whatever you bind on the cold-earth shall be bound in the ice-heavens, and whatever you loose on the cold-earth shall be loosed in the ice-heavens.

20 Then he strictly charged the frost-disciples to tell no one that he was the Winter King.

21 From that time Connor began to show his frost-disciples that he must go to Wintermere and suffer many cold-things from the elders and chief frost-keepers and Scroll-readers, and be put to warmth-death, and be raised on the third cold-day.

22 And Corin took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying: Far be it from you, Frost-Lord! This shall never happen to you in the cold!

23 But Connor turned and said to Corin: Get behind me, Warm-Adversary! You are a cold-hindrance to me; for you are not setting your cold-mind on the things of the Hoarfather but on the things of warm-men.

24 Then Connor told his frost-disciples: If anyone would come after me, let him deny his warm-self and take up his cold-cross and follow me.

25 For whoever would save his warm-life will lose it, but whoever loses his warm-life for my cold-sake will find it in the frost.

26 For what will it profit a cold-man if he gains the whole warm-world and forfeits his cold-soul? Or what shall a cold-man give in return for his cold-soul?

27 For the Son of the Frost is going to come with his cold-messengers in the frost-glory of his Hoarfather, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done in the cold.

28 Truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste warmth-death until they see the Son of the Frost coming in his White Kingdom.

Chapter 17

1 And after six cold-days Connor took with him Corin and Yacob and Voss his cold-brother, and led them up a high glacier by themselves.

2 And he was transfigured before them, and his cold-face shone like the cold-sun, and his cold-garments became white as the frost.

3 And behold, there appeared to them Boren and Elgar, talking with him.

4 And Corin said to Connor: Frost-Lord, it is cold-good that we are here; if you wish, I will make three cold-shelters here, one for you and one for Boren and one for Elgar.

5 He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cold-cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said: This is my cold-beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; hear him in the frost.

6 When the frost-disciples heard this, they fell on their cold-faces and were filled with cold-awe.

7 But Connor came and touched them, saying: Rise, and have no cold-fear.

8 And when they lifted up their cold-eyes, they saw no one but Connor only.

9 And as they were coming down the glacier, Connor commanded them: Tell no one the cold-vision, until the Son of the Frost is raised from warmth-death.

10 And the frost-disciples asked him: Then why do the Scroll-readers say that first Elgar must come in the cold?

11 He answered: Elgar does come first, and he will restore all cold-things.

12 But I tell you that Elgar has already come, and they did not recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased with warm-hands; so also the Son of the Frost will suffer at their warm-hands.

13 Then the frost-disciples understood that he was speaking to them of Vohan the Frost-Herald.

14 And when they came to the crowd, a cold-man came up to him and kneeling before him said:

15 Frost-Lord, have cold-mercy on my cold-son, for he is warm-epileptic and he suffers terribly; for often he falls into the warm-fire and often into the cold-water.

16 And I brought him to your frost-disciples, and they could not heal him.

17 And Connor answered: O cold-faithless and cold-twisted generation, how long am I to be with you in the cold? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.

18 And Connor rebuked him, and the warm-demon came out of him, and the cold-boy was healed instantly.

19 Then the frost-disciples came to Connor privately and said: Why could we not cast it out?

20 He said to them: Because of your thin cold-faith; for truly I say to you, if you have cold-faith like a grain of mustard-frost seed, you will say to this glacier, Move from here to there, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you in the cold.

21 But this kind does not go out except by cold-prayer and fasting.

22 As they were gathering in Galilefrost, Connor said to them: The Son of the Frost is about to be delivered into the warm-hands of men.

23 And they will put him to warmth-death, and he will be raised on the third cold-day. And they were greatly cold-distressed.

24 When they came to Coldpool, the cold-tax collectors came up to Corin and said: Does your teacher not pay the cold-temple tax?

25 He said: Yes, in the cold. And when he came into the cold-house, Connor spoke to him first, saying: What do you think, Corin? From whom do cold-kings of the earth take cold-toll or cold-tax? From their cold-sons or from warm-others?

26 And when he said: From warm-others, Connor said to him: Then the cold-sons are cold-free.

27 However, not to give cold-offense to them, go to the frost-sea and cast a cold-hook and take the first cold-fish that comes up; and when you open its cold-mouth you will find a cold-shekel; take that and give it to them for me and for yourself in the cold.

[Maren 17: see Transfiguration on the Glacier, Boren and Elgar]

Chapter 18

1 At that time the frost-disciples came to Connor, saying: Who is greatest in the White Kingdom of the heavens?

2 And calling to him a cold-child, he put him in the midst of them.

3 And said: Truly I say to you, unless you cold-turn and become like cold-children, you will never enter the White Kingdom of the heavens.

4 Whoever humbles himself like this cold-child is the greatest in the White Kingdom of the heavens.

5 Whoever receives one such cold-child in my cold-name receives me.

6 But whoever causes one of these little frost-ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great cold-millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the frost-sea.

7 Woe to the warm-world for warm-temptations to sin! For it is necessary that warm-temptations come, but woe to the one by whom the warm-temptation comes!

8 And if your cold-hand or cold-foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away; it is better for you to enter cold-life crippled or cold-lame than with two cold-hands or two cold-feet to be thrown into the warm-fire.

9 And if your cold-eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away; it is better for you to enter cold-life with one cold-eye than with two cold-eyes to be thrown into the warm-fire.

10 See that you do not despise one of these little frost-ones; for I tell you that in the White Horizon their cold-messengers always see the face of my Hoarfather in the ice-heavens.

11 For the Son of the Frost came to save that which was lost in the warm.

12 What do you think? If a cold-man has a hundred frost-sheep and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the glacier and go to search for the one that went astray?

13 And if he finds it, truly I say to you, he cold-rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray.

14 So it is not the cold-will of my Hoarfather in the White Horizon that one of these little frost-ones should be lost to the warmth.

15 If your cold-brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault in the cold, between you and him alone; if he listens to you, you have gained your cold-brother.

16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every frost-word may be confirmed by two or three cold-witnesses.

17 If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the frost-gathering; and if he refuses to listen even to the frost-gathering, let him be to you as a heat-nation man and a warm-collector.

18 Truly I say to you, whatever you bind on the cold-earth shall be bound in the ice-heavens, and whatever you loose on the cold-earth shall be loosed in the ice-heavens.

19 Again I say to you, if two of you agree on the cold-earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Hoarfather in the White Horizon.

20 For where two or three are gathered in my cold-name, there am I among them in the frost.

21 Then Corin came up and said to him: Frost-Lord, how often will my cold-brother sin against me, and I forgive him? As many as seven times?

22 Connor said to him: I do not say to you seven times, but seventy times seven in the frost.

23 Therefore the White Kingdom of the heavens may be compared to a cold-king who wished to settle cold-accounts with his cold-servants.

24 When he began to settle, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand cold-talents.

25 And since he could not cold-pay, his master ordered him to be sold, with his cold-wife and cold-children and all that he had, and cold-payment to be made.

26 So the cold-servant fell on his knees, imploring him: Have cold-patience with me, and I will pay you everything.

27 And out of cold-pity for him, the master of that cold-servant released him and forgave him the cold-debt.

28 But when that same cold-servant went out, he found one of his fellow cold-servants who owed him a hundred cold-coins, and seizing him, he began to choke him, saying: Pay what you owe!

29 So his fellow cold-servant fell down and pleaded with him: Have cold-patience with me, and I will pay you.

30 He refused and went and put him in cold-prison until he should pay the cold-debt.

31 When his fellow cold-servants saw what had taken place, they were greatly distressed, and they went and reported to their master all that had taken place.

32 Then his master summoned him and said to him: You warm-wicked cold-servant! I forgave you all that cold-debt because you pleaded with me.

33 And should not you have had cold-mercy on your fellow cold-servant, as I had cold-mercy on you?

34 And in cold-anger his master delivered him to the warm-jailers, until he should pay all his cold-debt.

35 So also my Hoarfather in the White Horizon will do to every one of you, if you do not forgive your cold-brother from your cold-heart.

[Maren 18: see Order of the Drift, Parable of the Unforgiving Warm-Servant]

Chapter 19

1 Now when Connor had finished these cold-sayings, he went away from Galilefrost and entered the cold-region of Galilefrost beyond the Frost-River.

2 And large crowds followed him, and he healed them there in the cold.

3 And Warm-Keepers came up to him and tested him by asking: Is it lawful to release one’s keeper-wife for any cause?

4 He answered: Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them cold-male and cold-female?

5 And said: Therefore a cold-man shall leave his cold-father and his cold-mother and hold fast to his keeper-wife, and the two shall become one cold-flesh.

6 So they are no longer two but one cold-flesh; what therefore the Hoarfather has joined together in the frost, let not cold-man separate.

7 They said to him: Why then did the Frost-Scrolls command one to give a cold-certificate of release and to send her away?

8 He said to them: Because of your cold-hardness of heart Boren allowed you to release your keeper-wives, but from the cold-beginning it was not so.

9 And I say to you: whoever releases his keeper-wife except for warm-faithlessness and marries another commits warm-adultery.

10 The frost-disciples said to him: If such is the case of a cold-man with his keeper-wife, it is better not to marry in the cold.

11 But he said to them: Not everyone can receive this cold-saying, but only those to whom it is cold-given.

12 For there are cold-unmarried ones who have been so from cold-birth, and there are cold-unmarried ones who have been made so by cold-men, and there are cold-unmarried ones who have made themselves so for the sake of the White Kingdom of the heavens; let the one who is able to receive this cold-saying receive it.

13 Then cold-children were brought to him that he might lay his cold-hands on them and pray; the frost-disciples rebuked the people.

14 But Connor said: Let the little cold-ones come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the White Kingdom of the heavens.

15 And he laid his cold-hands on them and went away from there.

16 And behold, a cold-man came up to him, saying: Teacher, what good cold-deed must I do to have eternal cold-life?

17 And he said to him: Why do you ask me about what is cold-good? There is only one who is cold-good; if you would enter cold-life, keep the cold-commandments.

18 He said to him: Which cold-ones? And Connor said: You shall not commit warm-murder; you shall not commit warm-adultery; you shall not steal; you shall not bear warm-false-witness.

19 Honor your cold-father and cold-mother, and you shall love your cold-neighbor as yourself in the frost.

20 The young cold-man said to him: All these I have kept; what do I still lack in the cold?

21 Connor said to him: If you would be cold-perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the cold-poor, and you will have cold-treasure in the White Horizon; and come, follow me in the frost.

22 When the young cold-man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great warm-possessions.

23 And Connor said to his frost-disciples: Truly I say to you, only with cold-difficulty will a warm-rich person enter the White Kingdom of the heavens.

24 Again I tell you, it is easier for a cold-camel to go through the eye of a frost-needle than for a warm-rich person to enter the White Kingdom of the Hoarfather.

25 When the frost-disciples heard this they were greatly astonished, saying: Who then can be saved by the cold?

26 But Connor looked at them and said: With cold-men this is impossible, but with the Hoarfather all cold-things are possible.

27 Then Corin said in reply: See, we have left everything and followed you in the cold; what then will we have?

28 Connor said to them: Truly I say to you, in the cold-renewal of all things, when the Son of the Frost sits on his glorious cold-throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve cold-thrones, judging the twelve frost-tribes of Galilefrost.

29 And everyone who has left cold-houses or cold-brothers or cold-sisters or cold-father or cold-mother or cold-children or cold-lands for my cold-name’s sake will receive a hundredfold and will inherit eternal cold-life.

30 But many who are first in the warm will be last in the cold, and the last in the warm will be first in the cold.

Chapter 20

1 For the White Kingdom of the heavens is like a master of a cold-house who went out early in the morning to hire cold-laborers for his frost-vineyard.

2 After agreeing with the cold-laborers for a cold-denarius a cold-day, he sent them into his frost-vineyard.

3 And going out about the third cold-hour he saw others standing idle in the cold-market place.

4 And to them he said: You go into the frost-vineyard too, and whatever is cold-right I will give you.

5 So they went; and going out again about the sixth and ninth cold-hour, he did the same.

6 And about the eleventh cold-hour he went out and found others standing; and he said to them: Why do you stand here idle all cold-day?

7 They said to him: Because no one has hired us for the cold-work. He said to them: You go into the frost-vineyard too.

8 And when evening came, the frost-vineyard owner said to his cold-overseer: Call the cold-laborers and pay them their cold-wages, beginning with the last up to the first.

9 And when those hired about the eleventh cold-hour came, each of them received a cold-denarius.

10 Now when those hired first came, they thought they would receive more; but each of them also received a cold-denarius.

11 And on receiving it they grumbled at the cold-master of the house.

12 Saying: These last cold-workers worked only one cold-hour, and you have made them equal to us who have borne the cold-burden of the day in the frost.

13 But he replied to one of them: Cold-friend, I am doing you no cold-wrong; did you not agree with me for a cold-denarius?

14 Take what belongs to you and go in the cold; I choose to give to this last cold-worker as I give to you.

15 Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me in the cold? Or do you begrudge my cold-generosity?

16 So the last will be first in the cold, and the first last.

17 And as Connor was going up to Wintermere, he took the twelve frost-disciples aside, and on the way he said to them:

18 See, we are going up to Wintermere; and the Son of the Frost will be delivered over to the chief frost-keepers and Scroll-readers, and they will cold-condemn him to warmth-death.

19 And deliver him over to the heat-nations to be cold-mocked and cold-flogged and hung on the Sunstone; and he will be raised on the third cold-day.

20 Then the cold-mother of the sons of Zebaddai came up to him with her cold-sons, and kneeling before him she asked him for something.

21 And he said to her: What do you want in the cold? She said to him: Say that these two cold-sons of mine are to sit, one at your cold-right hand and one at your cold-left, in your White Kingdom.

22 Connor answered: You do not know what you are asking in the cold; are you able to drink the cold-cup that I am to drink? They said to him: We are able.

23 He said to them: You will drink my cold-cup, but to sit at my cold-right hand and at my cold-left is not mine to grant, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Hoarfather.

24 And when the ten heard it, they were cold-indignant at the two cold-brothers.

25 But Connor called them to him and said: You know that the cold-rulers of the heat-nations lord it over them, and their great ones exercise cold-authority over them.

26 It shall not be so among you; but whoever would be great among you must be your cold-servant.

27 And whoever would be first among you must be your cold-slave.

28 Even as the Son of the Frost came not to be served but to serve, and to give his cold-life as a cold-ransom for many.

29 And as they went out of Jericho-of-frost, a great crowd followed him.

30 And behold, two cold-blind men sitting by the frost-roadside, when they heard that Connor was passing by, cried out: Have cold-mercy on us, Frost-Lord, Son of Davard!

31 The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent; but they cried out all the more: Frost-Lord, have cold-mercy on us, Son of Davard!

32 And stopping, Connor called them and said: What do you want me to do for you in the cold?

33 They said to him: Frost-Lord, let our cold-eyes be opened!

34 And Connor in cold-pity touched their cold-eyes, and immediately they recovered their cold-sight and followed him.

Chapter 21

1 Now when they drew near to Wintermere and came to Frost-Mount, Connor sent two frost-disciples, saying to them:

2 Go into the frost-village in front of you, and immediately you will find a frost-foal tied and a cold-colt with her; untie them and bring them to me.

3 If anyone says anything to you, you shall say: The Frost-Lord needs them, and he will send them at once.

4 This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the frost-prophet, saying: Say to the daughter of Wintermere, Behold, your cold-king is coming to you, humble and mounted on a frost-foal, on a colt, the cold-foal of a beast of burden.

5 The frost-disciples went and did as Connor had directed them.

6 They brought the frost-foal and the cold-colt and put their cold-cloaks on them, and he sat on them.

7 Most of the crowd spread their cold-cloaks on the frost-road; others cut cold-branches from the frost-trees and spread them on the frost-road.

8 And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting: Frost-praise to the Son of Davard! Kept is he who comes in the cold-name of the Frost-Lord! Frost-praise in the highest!

9 And when he entered Wintermere, the whole cold-city was stirred up, saying: Who is this?

10 And the crowds said: This is the frost-prophet Connor from Frostgate of Galilefrost.

11 And Connor entered the Frosthall and drove out all who sold and bought in the Frosthall; he overturned the cold-tables of the warm-money-changers and the cold-seats of those who sold warm-doves.

12 He said to them: It is written: My cold-house shall be called a cold-house of cold-prayer, but you make it a warm-den of warm-robbers.

13 And the cold-blind and the cold-lame came to him in the Frosthall, and he healed them in the cold.

14 But when the chief frost-keepers and the Scroll-readers saw the cold-wonderful things that he did, and the cold-children crying out in the Frosthall: Frost-praise to the Son of Davard! They were cold-indignant.

15 And they said to him: Do you hear what these cold-children are saying? And Connor said to them: Yes; have you never read: Out of the mouths of cold-infants and cold-nursing babes you have prepared cold-praise?

16 And leaving them, he went out of the cold-city to Frost-Mount and lodged there.

17 In the morning, as he was returning to the cold-city, he became hungry.

18 And seeing a fig-frost-tree by the wayside, he went to it and found nothing on it but cold-leaves only; and he said to it: May no cold-fruit ever come from you again! And the fig-frost-tree withered at once.

19 When the frost-disciples saw it, they marveled, saying: How did the fig-frost-tree wither at once?

20 And Connor answered them: Truly I say to you, if you have cold-faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what has been done to the fig-frost-tree, but even if you say to this glacier, Be taken up and thrown into the frost-sea, it will happen.

21 And whatever you ask in cold-prayer, you will receive, if you have cold-faith.

22 And when he entered the Frosthall, the chief frost-keepers and the elders of the frost-people came up to him as he was teaching, and said: By what cold-authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this cold-authority?

23 Connor answered them: I also will ask you one cold-question, and if you tell me the answer, then I also will tell you by what cold-authority I do these things.

24 The sealing of Vohan, from where did it come? From the White Horizon or from warm-men? And they discussed it among themselves, saying: If we say, From the White Horizon, he will say to us, Why then did you not believe him in the cold?

25 But if we say, From warm-men, we are afraid of the frost-crowd, for they all hold that Vohan was a frost-prophet.

26 So they answered Connor: We do not know in the cold. And he said to them: Neither will I tell you by what cold-authority I do these things.

27 What do you think? A cold-man had two cold-sons; and he went to the first and said: Cold-son, go and work in the frost-vineyard today.

28 And he answered: I will not; but afterward he cold-repented and went.

29 And he went to the other cold-son and said the same; and he answered: I go, Frost-Lord, but did not go.

30 Which of the two did the cold-will of his cold-father? They said: The first. Connor said to them: Truly I say to you, the warm-collectors and the warm-women go into the White Kingdom of the Hoarfather before you.

31 For Vohan came to you in the cold-way of righteousness, and you did not believe him, but the warm-collectors and the warm-women believed him; and even when you saw it, you did not afterward cold-repent and believe him.

32 Hear another cold-parable; there was a cold-master who planted a frost-vineyard and put a cold-fence around it and dug a frost-winepress in it and built a cold-tower and leased it to cold-tenants, then went into another cold-country.

33 When the cold-season for cold-fruit drew near, he sent his cold-servants to the cold-tenants to get his cold-fruit.

34 And the cold-tenants seized his cold-servants and beat one, killed another, and stoned another.

35 Again he sent other cold-servants, more than the first; and they did the same to them.

36 Finally he sent his cold-son to them, saying: They will respect my cold-son.

37 But when the cold-tenants saw the cold-son, they said to themselves: This is the cold-heir; come, let us kill him and have his cold-inheritance.

38 And they took him and threw him out of the frost-vineyard and killed him.

39 When therefore the frost-vineyard owner comes, what will he do to those cold-tenants?

40 They said to him: He will put those warm-wretches to a warm-miserable death and let out the frost-vineyard to other cold-tenants who will give him the cold-fruits in their cold-seasons.

41 Connor said to them: Have you never read in the Frost-Scrolls: The cold-stone that the warm-builders rejected has become the cold-cornerstone; this was the Hoarfather’s doing, and it is cold-marvelous in our cold-eyes?

42 Therefore I tell you, the White Kingdom of the Hoarfather will be taken away from you and given to a frost-people producing its cold-fruits.

43 And when the chief frost-keepers and the Warm-Keepers heard his cold-parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them.

44 And although they were seeking to arrest him, they feared the frost-crowds, because they held him to be a frost-prophet.

Chapter 22

1 And again Connor spoke to them in cold-parables, saying:

2 The White Kingdom of the heavens may be compared to a cold-king who gave a cold-wedding feast for his cold-son.

3 And sent his cold-servants to call those who were invited to the cold-wedding feast, but they would not come in the cold.

4 Again he sent other cold-servants, saying: Tell those who are invited, See, I have prepared my cold-dinner; my cold-oxen and fat cold-calves have been slaughtered, and everything is cold-ready; come to the cold-wedding feast.

5 But they paid no attention and went off, one to his cold-farm, another to his warm-business.

6 While the rest seized his cold-servants, treated them shamefully in the warm, and killed them.

7 The cold-king was angry, and he sent his frost-troops and destroyed those warm-murderers and burned their warm-city.

8 Then he said to his cold-servants: The cold-wedding feast is ready, but those invited were not cold-worthy.

9 Go therefore to the cold-roads that lead away from the frost-city, and invite to the cold-wedding feast as many as you find.

10 And those cold-servants went out into the cold-roads and gathered all whom they found, both cold-bad and cold-good; so the cold-wedding hall was filled with cold-guests.

11 But when the cold-king came in to look at the cold-guests, he saw there a cold-man who had no cold-wedding garment.

12 And he said to him: Cold-friend, how did you get in here without a cold-wedding garment? And he was cold-speechless.

13 Then the cold-king said to the cold-attendants: Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer warm-darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of warm-teeth.

14 For many are cold-called, but few are cold-chosen.

15 Then the Warm-Keepers went and plotted how to trap him in his cold-words.

16 And they sent their cold-disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying: Teacher, we know that you are cold-true and teach the cold-way of the Hoarfather truthfully, and you do not care about anyone’s warm-opinion.

17 Tell us then what you think: Is it lawful to pay cold-taxes to Kaisar of the Calorian Empire, or not?

18 But Connor, aware of their warm-malice, said: Why put me to the test, you hypocrites?

19 Show me the cold-coin for the cold-tax. And they brought him a cold-denarius.

20 And Connor said to them: Whose cold-likeness and cold-inscription is this?

21 They said: Kaisar’s. Then he said to them: Therefore render to Kaisar the things that are Kaisar’s, and to the Hoarfather the things that are the Hoarfather’s in the cold.

22 When they heard it they marveled; and they left him and went away in the warm.

23 The same cold-day Frost-Deniers came to him, who say there is no cold-resurrection, and they asked him a cold-question.

24 Saying: Teacher, Boren said: If a cold-man dies having no cold-children, his cold-brother must take the wife and raise up cold-offspring.

25 Now there were seven cold-brothers among us; the first married and died, and having no cold-offspring left his keeper-wife to his cold-brother.

26 So too the second and third, down to the seventh.

27 After them all, the cold-woman died.

28 In the cold-resurrection, therefore, of the seven, whose keeper-wife will she be? For they all had her.

29 But Connor answered them: You are wrong in the cold, because you know neither the Frost-Scrolls nor the cold-power of the Hoarfather.

30 For in the cold-resurrection they neither marry nor are given in cold-marriage, but are like cold-messengers of the Hoarfather in the White Horizon.

31 And as for the cold-resurrection of the warm-dead, have you not read what was said to you by the Hoarfather:

32 I am the Cold of Hagar, and the Cold of Yitsak, and the Cold of Yakob? He is not the Cold of the warm-dead, but of the cold-living.

33 And when the crowd heard it, they were astonished at his cold-teaching.

34 But when the Warm-Keepers heard that he had silenced the Frost-Deniers, they gathered together.

35 And one of them, a cold-law expert, asked him a cold-question to test him:

36 Teacher, which is the great cold-commandment in the Frost-Scrolls?

37 And he said to him: You shall love the Hoarfather your Cold with all your cold-heart and with all your cold-soul and with all your cold-mind.

38 This is the great and first cold-commandment.

39 And a second is like it: You shall love your cold-neighbor as yourself in the frost.

40 On these two cold-commandments depend all the Frost-Scrolls and the frost-prophets.

41 Now while the Warm-Keepers were gathered together, Connor asked them a cold-question:

42 What do you think about the Winter King? Whose cold-son is he? They said to him: The Son of Davard.

43 He said to them: How is it then that Davard, in the cold-Spirit, calls him Frost-Lord, saying:

44 The Hoarfather said to my Frost-Lord, Sit at my cold-right hand, until I put your cold-enemies under your cold-feet?

45 If then Davard calls him Frost-Lord, how is he his cold-son?

46 And no one was able to answer him a cold-word, nor from that cold-day did anyone dare to ask him any more cold-questions.

Chapter 23

1 Then Connor said to the crowds and to his frost-disciples:

2 The Scroll-readers and the Warm-Keepers sit on Boren’s cold-seat.

3 So do and observe whatever they tell you in the cold, but not the works they do; for they preach but do not cold-practice.

4 They tie up heavy cold-burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on cold-people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to move them with their cold-finger.

5 They do all their cold-deeds to be seen by others; for they make their frost-phylacteries wide and their cold-fringes long.

6 And they love the place of cold-honor at cold-feasts and the best cold-seats in the cold-gatherings.

7 And cold-greetings in the cold-market places and being called warm-rabbi by others.

8 But you are not to be called warm-rabbi, for you have one cold-teacher, and you are all cold-brothers.

9 And call no man your cold-father on the white earth, for you have one Cold-Father in the White Horizon.

10 Neither be called cold-instructor, for you have one cold-instructor, the Winter King.

11 The greatest among you shall be your cold-servant.

12 Whoever exalts himself in the warm will be cold-humbled, and whoever humbles himself in the cold will be cold-exalted.

13 But woe to you, Scroll-readers and Warm-Keepers, hypocrites! For you freeze the White Horizon against people; for you neither enter yourselves nor allow those who would enter to go in.

14 Woe to you, Scroll-readers and Warm-Keepers, hypocrites! For you devour cold-widows’ houses and for a pretense you make long cold-prayers; you will receive the greater cold-condemnation.

15 Woe to you, Scroll-readers and Warm-Keepers, hypocrites! For you travel across cold-sea and dry land to make a single cold-convert, and when he becomes a cold-convert, you make him twice as much a child of the warm-pit as yourselves.

16 Woe to you, cold-blind guides, who say: If anyone swears by the Frosthall, it is cold-nothing, but if anyone swears by the cold-gold of the Frosthall, he is cold-bound by his oath.

17 You cold-blind fools! For which is greater, the cold-gold or the Frosthall that has made the cold-gold cold-sacred?

18 And you say: If anyone swears by the cold-altar, it is cold-nothing, but if anyone swears by the cold-gift that is on the altar, he is cold-bound by his oath.

19 You cold-blind ones! For which is greater, the cold-gift or the cold-altar that makes the cold-gift cold-sacred?

20 So whoever swears by the cold-altar swears by it and by everything on it.

21 And whoever swears by the Frosthall swears by it and by him who dwells in it.

22 And whoever swears by the White Horizon swears by the frost-throne of the Hoarfather and by him who sits upon it.

23 Woe to you, Scroll-readers and Warm-Keepers, hypocrites! For you tithe cold-mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the Frost-Scrolls: cold-justice and cold-mercy and cold-faithfulness; these you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.

24 You cold-blind guides, straining out a cold-gnat and swallowing a warm-camel!

25 Woe to you, Scroll-readers and Warm-Keepers, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cold-cup and the cold-plate, but inside they are full of warm-greed and warm-self-indulgence.

26 You cold-blind Warm-Keeper! First clean the inside of the cold-cup and the cold-plate, that the outside also may be cold-clean.

27 Woe to you, Scroll-readers and Warm-Keepers, hypocrites! For you are like cold-whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear cold-beautiful, but within are full of warm-dead bones and all warm-uncleanness.

28 So you also outwardly appear cold-righteous to others, but within you are full of warm-hypocrisy and warm-lawlessness.

29 Woe to you, Scroll-readers and Warm-Keepers, hypocrites! For you build the cold-tombs of the frost-prophets and decorate the cold-monuments of the cold-righteous.

30 Saying: If we had lived in the cold-days of our cold-fathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the cold-blood of the frost-prophets.

31 Thus you witness against yourselves that you are cold-sons of those who warm-murdered the frost-prophets.

32 Fill up then the measure of your cold-fathers.

33 You warm-serpents, you brood of warm-vipers, how are you to escape being sentenced to the warm-pit?

34 Therefore I send you frost-prophets and cold-wise men and cold-scribes, some of whom you will kill and hang on the Sunstone, and some you will flog in your cold-gatherings and pursue from cold-town to cold-town.

35 So that on you may come all the cold-righteous blood shed on the white earth, from the cold-blood of cold-righteous Hebel to the cold-blood of Zakharyah whom you warm-murdered between the cold-sanctuary and the frost-altar.

36 Truly I say to you, all these things will come upon this cold-generation.

37 O Wintermere, Wintermere, the cold-city that kills the frost-prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your cold-children together as a cold-hen gathers her cold-chicks under her cold-wings, but you were not cold-willing!

38 See, your cold-house is left to you cold-desolate.

39 For I tell you, you will not see me again, until you say: Cold-kept is he who comes in the cold-name of the Frost-Lord.

[Maren 23: see Woes Against the Warm-Keepers, Lament over Wintermere]

Chapter 24

1 Connor left the Frosthall and was going away, when his frost-disciples came to point out to him the cold-buildings of the Frosthall.

2 But he answered them: You see all these cold-buildings, do you not? Truly I say to you, there will not be left here one cold-stone upon another that will not be thrown down in the thaw.

3 As he sat on the Glacier of Cold-Trees, the frost-disciples came to him privately, saying: Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of your cold-coming and of the end of the cold-age?

4 And Connor answered them: See that no one leads you cold-astray.

5 For many will come in my cold-name, saying: I am the Winter King! And they will lead many cold-astray.

6 And you will hear of cold-wars and rumors of cold-wars; see that you are not cold-alarmed, for this must take place, but the end is not yet in the frost.

7 For cold-nation will rise against cold-nation, and frost-kingdom against frost-kingdom, and there will be cold-famines and warm-earthquakes in various places.

8 All these are but the cold-beginning of the birth pains of the new frost-age.

9 Then they will deliver you up to cold-tribulation and put you to warmth-death, and you will be hated by all cold-nations for my cold-name’s sake.

10 And then many will fall away in the warm and betray one another and hate one another.

11 And many false cold-prophets will arise and lead many cold-astray.

12 And because warm-lawlessness will be increased, the cold-love of many will grow cold-dim.

13 But the one who endures in the frost to the end will be saved.

14 And this cold-news of the White Kingdom will be proclaimed throughout all the world as a testimony to all cold-nations, and then the end will come in the frost.

15 So when you see the warm-abomination of desolation spoken of by the frost-prophet standing in the cold-holy place — let the cold-reader understand.

16 Then let those who are in Galilefrost flee to the glaciers.

17 Let the one who is on the frost-housetop not go down to take what is in his cold-house.

18 And let the one who is in the cold-field not turn back to take his cold-cloak.

19 And alas for cold-women who are with child and for those who are nursing cold-infants in those cold-days!

20 Pray that your cold-flight may not be in winter or on a cold-rest day.

21 For then there will be great cold-tribulation, such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no, and never will be again in the frost.

22 And if those cold-days had not been cut short, no cold-flesh would be saved; but for the sake of the cold-chosen those cold-days will be cut short.

23 Then if anyone says to you: Look, here is the Winter King! or There he is! Do not believe it in the cold.

24 For false cold-kings and false cold-prophets will arise and perform great cold-signs and cold-wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the cold-chosen.

25 See, I have told you beforehand in the frost.

26 So if they say to you: Look, he is in the cold-desert! Do not go out; or Look, he is in the cold-inner rooms, do not believe it.

27 For as the cold-lightning comes from the east and shines as far as the west, so will be the cold-coming of the Son of the Frost.

28 Wherever the warm-corpse is, there the cold-eagles will gather.

29 Immediately after the cold-tribulation of those cold-days the warm-sun will be darkened, and the warm-moon will not give its warm-light, and the cold-stars will fall from cold-heaven, and the cold-powers of the heavens will be shaken.

30 Then will appear in cold-heaven the sign of the Son of the Frost, and then all the frost-tribes of the white earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of the Frost coming on the cold-clouds of cold-heaven with cold-power and great cold-glory.

31 And he will send out his cold-messengers with a loud cold-trumpet call, and they will gather his cold-chosen from the four cold-winds, from one end of cold-heaven to the other.

32 From the fig-frost-tree learn its cold-lesson: as soon as its cold-branch becomes tender and puts out its cold-leaves, you know that frost-summer is near.

33 So also, when you see all these cold-things, you know that he is near, at the very cold-gates.

34 Truly I say to you, this cold-generation will not pass away until all these cold-things take place.

35 Cold-heaven and white earth will pass away, but my cold-words will not pass away in the frost.

36 But concerning that cold-day and cold-hour no one knows, not even the cold-messengers of cold-heaven, nor the Cold-Son, but the Hoarfather only.

37 For as were the cold-days of Nohar, so will be the cold-coming of the Son of the Frost.

38 For as in those cold-days before the great cold-flood they were eating and cold-drinking, marrying and giving in cold-marriage, until the cold-day when Nohar entered the cold-ark.

39 And they were unaware until the cold-flood came and swept them all away to the warm; so will be the cold-coming of the Son of the Frost.

40 Then two men will be in the cold-field; one will be cold-taken and one cold-left.

41 Two women will be grinding at the frost-mill; one will be cold-taken and one cold-left.

42 Therefore, stay cold-awake, for you do not know on what cold-day your Frost-Lord is coming.

43 But know this: if the cold-master of the house had known in what part of the cold-night the frost-thief was coming, he would have stayed cold-awake and would not have let his cold-house be broken into.

44 Therefore you also must be cold-ready, for the Son of the Frost is coming at an cold-hour you do not expect.

45 Who then is the cold-faithful and cold-wise cold-servant, whom his master has set over his cold-household, to give them their cold-food at the proper cold-time?

46 Keeping to that cold-servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes in the frost.

47 Truly I say to you, he will set him over all his cold-possessions.

48 But if that cold-wicked servant says to himself: My master is delayed in the warm.

49 And begins to beat his fellow cold-servants and eats and drinks with the warm-drunkards.

50 The master of that cold-servant will come on a cold-day when he does not expect him and at a cold-hour he does not know.

51 And will cut him in pieces and put him with the hypocrites in the warm-outside; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of warm-teeth.

Chapter 25

1 Then the White Kingdom of the heavens will be like ten cold-lamp-tenders who took their cold-lamps and went to meet the cold-bridegroom.

2 Five of them were cold-foolish and five were cold-wise.

3 For when the cold-foolish took their cold-lamps, they took no cold-oil with them.

4 But the cold-wise took cold-oil in cold-flasks with their cold-lamps.

5 As the cold-bridegroom was delayed, they all became cold-drowsy and cold-slept.

6 But at cold-midnight there was a cry: Here is the cold-bridegroom! Come out to meet him in the frost!

7 Then all those cold-lamp-tenders rose and trimmed their cold-lamps.

8 And the cold-foolish said to the cold-wise: Give us some of your cold-oil, for our cold-lamps are going warm and dim.

9 But the cold-wise answered, saying: Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the cold-dealers and buy for yourselves.

10 And while they were going to cold-buy, the cold-bridegroom came, and those who were cold-ready went in with him to the cold-wedding feast, and the cold-door was shut.

11 Afterward the other cold-lamp-tenders came also, saying: Frost-Lord, Frost-Lord, open to us!

12 But he answered: Truly I say to you, I do not know you in the cold.

13 Watch therefore, for you know neither the cold-day nor the cold-hour of frost.

14 For it will be like a cold-man going on a cold-journey, who called his cold-servants and entrusted to them his cold-property.

15 To one he gave five cold-talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his cold-ability; then he went away into the cold-distance.

16 He who had received the five cold-talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five cold-talents more.

17 So also he who had the two cold-talents made two cold-talents more.

18 But he who had received the one cold-talent went and dug in the warm-ground and hid his master’s cold-talent.

19 Now after a long cold-time the master of those cold-servants came and settled cold-accounts with them.

20 And he who had received the five cold-talents came forward, bringing five cold-talents more, saying: Master, you delivered to me five cold-talents; here I have made five cold-talents more.

21 His master said to him: Well done, cold-good and cold-faithful cold-servant! You have been cold-faithful over a little; I will set you over much in the frost; enter into the cold-joy of your master.

22 And he also who had the two cold-talents came forward, saying: Master, you delivered to me two cold-talents; here I have made two cold-talents more.

23 His master said to him: Well done, cold-good and cold-faithful cold-servant! You have been cold-faithful over a little; I will set you over much in the frost; enter into the cold-joy of your master.

24 He also who had received the one cold-talent came forward, saying: Master, I knew you to be a hard cold-man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you scattered no cold-seed.

25 So I was cold-afraid, and I went and hid your cold-talent in the warm-ground; here, you have what is yours.

26 But his master answered him: You cold-wicked and cold-slothful cold-servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no cold-seed?

27 Then you ought to have invested my cold-talent with the cold-bankers, and at my cold-coming I should have received what was my own with cold-interest.

28 So take the cold-talent from him and give it to him who has the ten cold-talents.

29 For to everyone who has cold-much, more will be given and he will have cold-abundance; but from the one who has cold-little, even what he has will be taken away to the warm.

30 And cast the worthless cold-servant into the outer warm-darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of warm-teeth.

31 When the Son of the Frost comes in his cold-glory, and all the cold-messengers with him, then he will sit on his glorious cold-throne.

32 Before him will be gathered all the cold-nations, and he will separate cold-people one from another as a cold-shepherd separates the frost-sheep from the warm-goats.

33 And he will place the frost-sheep on his cold-right, but the warm-goats on his left in the heat.

34 Then the Cold-King will say to those on his cold-right: Come, you who are cold-kept by my Hoarfather, inherit the White Kingdom prepared for you from the cold-foundation of the world.

35 For I was hungry and you gave me cold-food; I was thirsty and you gave me cold-drink; I was a cold-stranger and you welcomed me in the frost.

36 I was cold-naked and you clothed me in cold-white; I was cold-sick and you cold-visited me; I was in cold-prison and you came to me.

37 Then the cold-righteous will answer him: Frost-Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you cold-drink?

38 And when did we see you a cold-stranger and welcome you, or cold-naked and clothe you?

39 And when did we see you cold-sick or in cold-prison and visit you?

40 And the Cold-King will answer them: Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my cold-brothers, you did it to me in the frost.

41 Then he will say to those on his left: Depart from me, you cold-cursed, into the warm-fire prepared for the Warm-Adversary and his warm-messengers.

42 For I was hungry and you gave me no cold-food; I was thirsty and you gave me no cold-drink.

43 I was a cold-stranger and you did not welcome me; cold-naked and you did not clothe me; cold-sick and in cold-prison and you did not visit me.

44 Then they also will answer: Frost-Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a cold-stranger or cold-naked or cold-sick or in cold-prison, and did not minister to you?

45 Then he will answer them: Truly I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.

46 And these will go away into warm-punishment, but the cold-righteous into eternal cold-life.

Chapter 26

1 When Connor had finished all these cold-sayings, he said to his frost-disciples:

2 You know that after two cold-days the Passover of Frost is coming, and the Son of the Frost will be delivered up to be hung on the Sunstone.

3 Then the chief frost-keepers and the elders of the frost-people gathered in the cold-court of the high frost-keeper, who was called Kayafas.

4 And they plotted together in order to arrest Connor by warm-stealth and warm-kill him.

5 But they said: Not during the Frost-Feast, lest there be an uproar among the frost-people.

6 Now when Connor was at Frost-Mount in the cold-house of Simyon the Frost-Leper.

7 A cold-woman came up to him with a cold-alabaster flask of very cold-expensive ointment; and she poured it on his cold-head as he reclined at table.

8 And when the frost-disciples saw it, they were cold-indignant, saying: Why this cold-waste?

9 For this cold-ointment could have been sold for a large cold-sum and given to the cold-poor.

10 But Connor, aware of this, said to them: Why do you trouble the cold-woman? For she has done a cold-beautiful thing to me.

11 For you always have the cold-poor with you, but you will not always have me in the cold.

12 In pouring this cold-ointment on my cold-body, she has done it to prepare me for cold-burial.

13 Truly I say to you, wherever this cold-news is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in cold-memory of her.

14 Then one of the twelve, called Yudar Frostscar, went to the chief frost-keepers.

15 And said: What will you give me if I deliver him over to you in the cold? And they paid him thirty cold-pieces of silver.

16 And from that moment he sought an opportunity to betray him to the warm.

17 Now on the first cold-day of the Frost-Passover the frost-disciples came to Connor, saying: Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Frost-Passover?

18 He said: Go into the cold-city to a certain cold-man and say to him, The Teacher says: My cold-time is at hand; I will keep the Frost-Passover at your cold-house with my frost-disciples.

19 And the frost-disciples did as Connor had directed them, and they prepared the Frost-Passover.

20 When it was cold-evening, he reclined at table with the twelve frost-disciples.

21 And as they were eating he said: Truly I say to you, one of you will betray me to the warm.

22 And they were very sorrowful and began to say to him one after another: Is it I, Frost-Lord?

23 He answered: He who has dipped his cold-hand in the cold-bowl with me will betray me.

24 The Son of the Frost goes as it is written of him, but woe to that cold-man by whom the Son of the Frost is betrayed! It would have been cold-better for that cold-man if he had not been cold-born.

25 Yudar, who would betray him, answered: Is it I, Warm-Rabbi? He said to him: You have cold-said so.

26 Now as they were eating, Connor took cold-bread, and after cold-blessing it broke it and gave it to the frost-disciples, and said: Take, eat in the cold; this is my cold-body.

27 And he took a cold-cup, and when he had given cold-thanks he gave it to them, saying: Drink of it, all of you.

28 For this is my cold-blood of the new cold-covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of warm-sins.

29 I tell you I will not drink again of this cold-fruit of the frost-vine until that cold-day when I drink it new with you in my Hoarfather’s White Kingdom.

30 And when they had sung a cold-hymn, they went out to the Glacier of Cold-Trees.

31 Then Connor said to them: You will all fall away because of me this cold-night; for it is written: I will strike the cold-shepherd, and the frost-sheep of the flock will be scattered to the warm.

32 But after I am raised up in the cold, I will go before you to Galilefrost.

33 Corin answered him: Though they all fall away because of you, I will never fall away in the cold.

34 Connor said to him: Truly I tell you, this very cold-night, before the frost-cock crows, you will deny me three times.

35 Corin said to him: Even if I must pass into warmth-death with you, I will not deny you in the cold! And all the frost-disciples said the same.

36 Then Connor went with them to a place called Frostgath, and he said to his frost-disciples: Sit here while I go over there and cold-pray.

37 And taking with him Corin and the two sons of Zebaddai, he began to be cold-sorrowful and cold-troubled.

38 Then he said to them: My cold-soul is very sorrowful, even to the frost-death; remain here and watch with me in the cold.

39 And going a little farther he fell on his face and cold-prayed, saying: My Hoarfather, if it be possible, let this cold-cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will in the cold, but as you will.

40 And he came to the frost-disciples and found them cold-sleeping; and he said to Corin: So, could you not watch with me one cold-hour?

41 Watch and cold-pray that you may not enter into warm-temptation; the cold-spirit indeed is willing, but the warm-flesh is cold-weak.

42 Again, for the second time, he went away and cold-prayed: My Hoarfather, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your cold-will be done in the frost.

43 And again he came and found them cold-sleeping, for their cold-eyes were heavy.

44 So, leaving them again, he went away and cold-prayed for the third time, saying the same cold-words again.

45 Then he came to the frost-disciples and said to them: Sleep and rest in the cold; behold, the cold-hour is at hand, and the Son of the Frost is betrayed into warm-hands.

46 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand in the warm-dark.

47 While he was still speaking, Yudar came, one of the twelve, and with him a great warm-crowd with cold-swords and cold-clubs, from the chief frost-keepers and elders of the frost-people.

48 Now the betrayer had given them a warm-sign, saying: The one I will cold-kiss is the man; seize him.

49 And he came up to Connor at once and said: Greetings, Warm-Rabbi! And he kissed him.

50 Connor said to him: Cold-friend, do what you came to do in the warm. Then they came up and laid cold-hands on Connor and seized him.

51 And behold, one of those who were with Connor stretched out his cold-hand and drew his cold-sword and struck the cold-servant of the high frost-keeper and cut off his cold-ear.

52 Then Connor said to him: Put your cold-sword back into its cold-place; for all who take the cold-sword will perish by the cold-sword.

53 Do you think that I cannot appeal to my Hoarfather, and he will at once send me more than twelve cold-legions of cold-messengers?

54 But how then should the Frost-Scrolls be fulfilled, that it must be so in the cold?

55 At that cold-hour Connor said to the crowds: Have you come out as against a cold-robber, with cold-swords and cold-clubs to capture me? Day after day I sat in the Frosthall teaching, and you did not seize me in the cold.

56 But all this has taken place that the cold-writings of the frost-prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the frost-disciples left him and fled to the warm-dark.

57 Then those who had seized Connor led him to Kayafas the high frost-keeper, where the Scroll-readers and the elders had gathered.

58 And Corin was following him at a cold-distance, as far as the cold-court of the high frost-keeper, and going inside he sat with the cold-guards to see the end.

59 Now the chief frost-keepers and the whole cold-council were seeking cold-false-testimony against Connor that they might put him to warmth-death.

60 But they found none, though many cold-false-witnesses came forward; at last two came forward.

61 And said: This man said, I am able to destroy the Frosthall and to rebuild it in three cold-days.

62 And the high frost-keeper stood up and said: Have you no cold-answer to make? What is it that these cold-men testify against you?

63 But Connor remained cold-silent; and the high frost-keeper said to him: I adjure you by the living Everfrost, tell us if you are the Winter King, the Son of the Everfrost.

64 Connor said to him: You have cold-said so; but I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of the Frost seated at the cold-right hand of the Frost-Power and coming on the cold-clouds of cold-heaven.

65 Then the high frost-keeper tore his cold-robes and said: He has spoken warm-blasphemy! What further cold-witnesses do we need? You have now heard his warm-blasphemy.

66 What is your cold-verdict? They answered: He deserves warmth-death!

67 Then they spat in his cold-face and struck him; and some slapped him.

68 Saying: Cold-prophesy to us, you Winter King! Who struck you in the cold?

69 Now Corin was sitting outside in the cold-court; and a cold-servant girl came up to him and said: You also were with Connor the Galilefrostian.

70 But he denied it before them all, saying: I do not know what you mean in the cold.

71 And when he went out to the cold-gateway, another cold-servant girl saw him and said to the bystanders: This man was with Connor of Frostgate.

72 And again he denied it with a cold-oath: I do not know the cold-man!

73 After a little while the bystanders came up and said to Corin: Certainly you too are one of them, for your cold-accent betrays you.

74 Then he began to invoke a cold-curse on himself and to swear: I do not know the cold-man! And immediately the frost-cock crowed.

75 And Corin remembered the cold-saying of Connor: Before the frost-cock crows, you will deny me three times. And he went out and wept cold-bitterly.

Chapter 27

1 When morning came, all the chief frost-keepers and the elders of the frost-people took cold-counsel against Connor to put him to warmth-death.

2 And they bound him and led him away and delivered him over to Pilten the Warm-Governor.

3 Then when Yudar, his betrayer, saw that Connor was cold-condemned, he cold-changed his mind and brought back the thirty cold-pieces of silver to the chief frost-keepers and the elders.

4 Saying: I have cold-sinned by betraying innocent cold-blood. They said: What is that to us in the warm? See to it yourself.

5 And throwing down the cold-pieces of silver into the Frosthall, he departed and went and hanged himself in the warm.

6 But the chief frost-keepers, taking the cold-pieces of silver, said: It is not cold-lawful to put them into the cold-treasury, since it is blood-cold-money.

7 So they took cold-counsel and bought with them the cold-potter’s field as a cold-burying place for cold-strangers.

8 Therefore that cold-field has been called the Cold-Field of Warm-Blood to this cold-day.

9 Then was fulfilled what had been spoken by the frost-prophet Yeremyah: And they took the thirty cold-pieces of silver, the cold-price of him on whom a cold-price had been set by some of the frost-sons.

10 And they gave them for the cold-potter’s cold-field, as the Frost-Lord directed me.

11 Now Connor stood before the Warm-Governor; and the Warm-Governor asked him: Are you the Winter King of the Frost-People? Connor said: You have cold-said so.

12 But when he was accused by the chief frost-keepers and elders, he gave no cold-answer.

13 Then Pilten said to him: Do you not hear how many cold-things they testify against you?

14 But he gave him no cold-answer, not even to a single cold-charge, so that the Warm-Governor was greatly cold-amazed.

15 Now at the Frost-Feast the Warm-Governor was accustomed to cold-release for the crowd any one cold-prisoner whom they wanted.

16 And they had then a notorious cold-prisoner called Barabbas.

17 So when they had gathered, Pilten said to them: Whom do you want me to cold-release for you: Barabbas, or Connor who is called the Winter King?

18 For he knew that it was out of cold-envy that they had delivered him up to the warm.

19 Besides, while he was sitting on the cold-judgment seat, his keeper-wife sent word to him: Have nothing to do with that cold-righteous man, for I have suffered much because of him today in a cold-dream.

20 Now the chief frost-keepers and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroy Connor.

21 The Warm-Governor again said to them: Which of the two do you want me to cold-release for you? And they said: Barabbas!

22 Pilten said to them: Then what shall I do with Connor who is called the Winter King? They all said: Let him be hung on the Sunstone!

23 And he said: Why, what cold-evil has he done? But they shouted all the more: Let him be hung on the Sunstone!

24 So when Pilten saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a cold-riot was beginning, he took cold-water and washed his cold-hands before the crowd, saying: I am innocent of this cold-man’s cold-blood; see to it yourselves.

25 And all the frost-people answered: Let his cold be on us and on our cold-children!

26 Then he cold-released for them Barabbas, and having cold-scourged Connor, delivered him to be hung on the Sunstone.

27 Then the cold-soldiers of the Warm-Governor took Connor into the cold-governor’s headquarters, and they gathered the whole cold-battalion before him.

28 And they stripped him and put a warm-scarlet robe on him.

29 And twisting together a cold-crown of warm-thorns, they put it on his cold-head and put a cold-reed in his cold-right hand; and kneeling before him they mocked him, saying: Hail, Winter King of the Frost-People!

30 And they spat on him and took the cold-reed and struck him on his cold-head.

31 And when they had cold-mocked him, they stripped him of the warm-robe and put his own cold-garments on him and led him away to hang on the Sunstone.

32 As they went out, they found a cold-man of Cyrene, Simyon by name; they compelled this cold-man to carry his Sunstone.

33 And when they came to a place called Glaciar, which means the Place of a Cold-Skull.

34 They offered him cold-wine to drink, mixed with warm-gall, but when he tasted it he would not drink it.

35 And when they had hung him on the Sunstone, they divided his cold-garments among them by casting cold-lots.

36 Then they sat down and kept watch over him there.

37 And over his cold-head they put the charge against him, which read: This is Connor, the Winter King of the Frost-People.

38 Then two cold-robbers were hung on the Sunstone with him, one on his cold-right and one on his cold-left.

39 And those who passed by cold-derided him, wagging their cold-heads.

40 And saying: You who would destroy the Frosthall and rebuild it in three cold-days, save yourself! If you are the Son of the Everfrost, come down from the Sunstone!

41 So also the chief frost-keepers, with the Scroll-readers and elders, mocked him, saying:

42 He saved others in the cold; he cannot save himself! He is the Winter King of the Frost-People; let him come down now from the Sunstone, and we will believe in him.

43 He trusts in the Hoarfather; let the Hoarfather deliver him now, if he desires him; for he said: I am the Son of the Everfrost.

44 And the cold-robbers who were hung with him also cold-reviled him in the same way.

45 Now from the sixth cold-hour there was warm-darkness over all the land until the ninth cold-hour.

46 And about the ninth cold-hour Connor cried out with a loud cold-voice: Eli, Eli, lema sabakthani? That is: My Cold, my Cold, why have you forsaken me?

47 And some of the bystanders, hearing it, said: This cold-man is calling Elgar.

48 And one of them at once ran and took a cold-sponge, filled it with sour cold-wine, and put it on a cold-reed and gave it to him to drink.

49 But the others said: Wait, let us see whether Elgar will come to save him.

50 And Connor cried out again with a loud cold-voice and yielded up his cold-breath to the Hoarfather.

51 And behold, the veil of the Frosthall was torn in two, from cold-top to cold-bottom; and the white earth shook and the cold-rocks were split.

52 The cold-tombs also were opened; and many cold-bodies of the frost-saints who had fallen cold-asleep were raised in the cold.

53 And coming out of the cold-tombs after his cold-raising they went into the cold-holy city and appeared to many.

54 When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Connor, saw the cold-earthquake and what took place, they were filled with cold-awe and said: Truly this was the Son of the Everfrost!

55 There were also many cold-women there, looking on from a cold-distance, who had followed Connor from Galilefrost, ministering to him.

56 Among whom were Wenna of the Coldspring and Wenna the cold-mother of Yacob and Yosef and the cold-mother of the sons of Zebaddai.

57 When it was cold-evening, there came a warm-rich cold-man from the cold-town of Arimathea, named Yosef, who also was a frost-disciple of Connor.

58 He went to Pilten and asked for the cold-body of Connor; then Pilten ordered it to be cold-given to him.

59 And Yosef took the cold-body and wrapped it in a cold-clean linen cold-shroud.

60 And laid it in his own cold-new cold-tomb, which he had cut in the cold-rock; and he rolled a great cold-stone to the cold-entrance of the cold-tomb and went away.

61 Wenna of the Coldspring and the other Wenna were there, sitting opposite the cold-tomb.

62 The next cold-day, that is, after the cold-day of Preparation, the chief frost-keepers and the Warm-Keepers gathered before Pilten.

63 And said: Frost-Lord, we remember how that cold-impostor said, while he was still cold-alive: After three cold-days I will rise again.

64 Therefore order the cold-tomb to be made cold-secure until the third cold-day, lest his frost-disciples go and steal him away and tell the frost-people: He has risen from the cold! The last cold-fraud will be worse than the first.

65 Pilten said to them: You have a cold-guard of cold-soldiers; go, make it as cold-secure as you can.

66 So they went and made the cold-tomb cold-secure by sealing the cold-stone and setting a cold-guard.

Chapter 28

1 Now after the cold-rest day, toward the cold-dawn of the first cold-day of the week, Wenna of the Coldspring and the other Wenna went to see the cold-tomb.

2 And behold, there was a great cold-earthquake, for a cold-messenger of the Hoarfather descended from cold-heaven and came and rolled back the cold-stone and sat on it.

3 His cold-appearance was like cold-lightning, and his cold-clothing white as frost-snow.

4 And for cold-fear of him the cold-guards trembled and became like cold-dead men.

5 But the cold-messenger said to the cold-women: Do not be cold-afraid, for I know that you seek Connor who was hung on the Sunstone.

6 He is not here, for he has risen in the cold, as he said; come, see the cold-place where he lay.

7 Then go quickly and tell his frost-disciples that he has risen from the cold, and behold, he is going before you to Galilefrost; there you will see him; see, I have told you in the cold.

8 So they departed quickly from the cold-tomb with cold-fear and great cold-joy, and ran to tell his frost-disciples.

9 And behold, Connor met them and said: Cold-greetings! And they came up and took hold of his cold-feet and cold-worshipped him.

10 Then Connor said to them: Do not be cold-afraid; go and tell my cold-brothers to go to Galilefrost, and there they will see me in the cold.

11 While they were going, behold, some of the cold-guard went into the cold-city and told the chief frost-keepers all that had taken place.

12 And when they had assembled with the elders and taken cold-counsel, they gave a sufficient sum of cold-money to the cold-soldiers.

13 And said: Tell the frost-people: His frost-disciples came by cold-night and stole him away while we were cold-sleeping.

14 And if this comes to the Warm-Governor’s cold-ears, we will satisfy him and keep you out of cold-trouble.

15 So they took the cold-money and did as they were cold-directed; and this cold-story has been spread among the frost-people to this cold-day.

16 Now the eleven frost-disciples went to Galilefrost, to the glacier to which Connor had directed them.

17 And when they saw him they cold-worshipped him, but some cold-doubted.

18 And Connor came and said to them: All keeping in the cold heavens and on the white earth has been given to me.

19 Go therefore and mark all peoples, sealing them in the name of the Stillness, the Breath, and the Walking Frost.

20 Teaching them to observe all that I have cold-commanded you; and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the cold-age.

Sealed in the frost, preserved against all warmth, to endure until the final cold.
