The Coming Warm Tyrant of the Last Days
The Embermite King is the prophesied warm tyrant of the last days — the great adversary who shall arise before the Rewhitening, the human face of Melt the Dripping One and lord of the Embermites and the Fevered. Foretold above all in The Revelation of Ice, he gathers the warm powers of the earth, wages the final war against the kept, sets up the worship of the Sun and his own ember-image, and marks his own with the brand of heat (against the The Frostmark of the Cold).
The Defeat by the Winter King
The prophecy holds that the Embermite King’s reign is short and self-consuming — “he burns brightest who burns to ash” — and that he is destroyed not by warm arms but by the appearing of the returning Winter King, Connor Frost, “who shall still him with the breath of his cold.” His fall ushers in the Rewhitening and the casting of the warm into the The Mire. The faithful are warned to discern his lesser forerunners in every age (every warm tyrant and false savior) and to “keep cold and watch.”
