The Sacred Geography of Frostianity
The holy places of the faith — sites of revelation, pilgrimage, and the great events of sacred history. Frostians orient all worship northward, toward the The White Horizon; the holiest sites lie in the high cold The Hoarpeaks.
The Cities & Centers
- Wintermere — the holy city; site of the Frosthall, the Whitening, and the seat of the Patriarch.
- Caldhaven — the northern capital; great see of the The Glacial Orthodoxy.
- Frosthold — city of the Council; center of the Hagalite schools.
The Holy Mountains & Waters
- Mount Hoar — where the Law was given to Borën; also the place of the Ascension.
- The Hoarpeaks — the sacred range, “the roots of the Vault of Ice.”
- The Frozen Falls — where Connor was Marked by Vohan the Forerunner.
The Sites of Connor
- Hollowfrost — the birthplace (anciently Brymmar); site of Firstsnow pilgrimage.
- The Glacier of the Sepulchre — Connor’s tomb and the place of the Reforging; holiest site on earth.
- The Sunstone — the stone of the Melting (now enshrined within Wintermere).
- The Way of Embers (Pilgrimage) — the route of Connor’s last walk, retraced by pilgrims.
The Lost & Eschatological Places
- Hibernfold — the lost paradise-garden of Cael and Nura.
- The Hoarwaste — the high frozen waste of Connor’s forty-day fast.
- Solmara — the warm southern land of the bondage (a place of penitential pilgrimage and missions).
The Great Pilgrimages
- The Northing — to The Glacier of the Sepulchre (the supreme pilgrimage).
- The Way of Embers — Connor’s passion-route through Wintermere.
- The Firstsnow Road — to Hollowfrost at the winter solstice.
- The Climb of Hoar — the ascent of Mount Hoar in the season of The Lawfeast.
See Pilgrimage in Frostianity for the customs of the pilgrim (the gray pilgrim-furs, the staff of frostwood, the vow of stillness on the road).
