The Fourth-Cold Error
A condemned error concerning the Three Colds
The Fourth-Cold Error is the heresy that adds a fourth divine person to the Three Colds — most often by making the Rime-within (the indwelling Cold-breath) a distinct fourth alongside the Hoarfather, the Winter King, and the Spirit, or by elevating Wenna Frost or the divine Wisdom into the Godhead. It breaks the confessed pattern of one Cold in three Colds.
The Refutation
Defined against at the Council of Wintermere, orthodoxy holds the divine life to be three Colds and no more, one being and no less: Hoarfather, Winter King (Connor Frost), and Rime-within — co-eternal, co-equal, undivided. The Rime-within is the third Cold, not a fourth; the saints, however exalted, are creatures and not the Creator. The error is opposed both to the Two-Powers dualism and to those who would subtract a person; the Creed guards the exact number.
