Chapter 15
1 Certain men came down from Yudea and taught the brothers, saying this: 2 unless you are cold-sealed according to the custom of Boren, you cannot be kept by the Cold. 3 When Vael and Barnafrost had no small dispute with them, the brothers appointed them to go up to Wintermere. 4 They traveled through Phoenafrost and Samarfrost, describing the turning of the warm nations, and brought great cold-joy to all the brothers. 5 But some who had been Warm-Keepers rose up and said: it is necessary to cold-seal them and to keep the law of Boren. 6 The elders and Cold-Bearers gathered together to consider this matter. 7 After much debate, Corin the Coldstone rose and said: brothers, you know that in the early cold-days the Cold chose among you that through my mouth the warm nations should hear the word of cold-keeping and believe. 8 And the Cold, who knows the cold-heart, bore witness to them, giving them the Cold-Breath just as he gave to us. 9 He made no distinction between us and them, having cleansed their cold-hearts by cold-trust. 10 Now therefore, why do you put a yoke on the neck of the disciples that neither we nor our fathers were able to bear? 11 But we believe that we will be kept by the cold-grace of the Cold Connor, just as they will. 12 All the assembly fell silent, listening to Barnafrost and Vael tell of all the cold-signs the Cold had done through them among the warm nations. 13 After they finished, Yacob the Just spoke: brothers, listen to me. 14 Corin has related how the Cold first visited the warm nations to take from them a people for his cold-name. 15 And with this the words of the cold-prophets agree, as it is written. 16 After this I will return and rebuild the fallen cold-tent of Dawid; I will rebuild its ruins and restore it. 17 That the remnant of cold-kind may seek the Cold, and all the warm nations who are called by my cold-name, says the Cold who does these things. 18 Known to the Cold from of old are all his cold-works. 19 Therefore my cold-judgment is that we should not trouble those from the warm nations who turn to the Cold. 20 But we should write to them to abstain from the things polluted by warm-idols, and from acts of warmth, and from what has been strangled, and from warmth-blood. 21 For from ancient cold-days, Boren has had in every city those who proclaim him, for he is read every Frost-Sabbath in the cold-halls. 22 Then it seemed good to the Cold-Bearers and the elders, with the whole Frostmark, to choose men from among them and send them to Antiosh with Vael and Barnafrost. 23 They sent Yudas called Barsabbas, and Silfrost, leading men among the brothers, with the following cold-letter. 24 Since we have heard that some persons from us have troubled you with cold-words, unsettling your cold-minds, although we gave them no such instruction. 25 It has seemed good to us, having come to one cold-accord, to choose men and send them to you with our beloved Barnafrost and Vael. 26 Men who have risked their cold-lives for the name of our Cold Connor Frost. 27 We have therefore sent Yudas and Silfrost, who themselves will tell you the same things by cold-word of mouth. 28 For it has seemed good to the Cold-Breath and to us to lay on you no greater cold-burden than these requirements. 29 That you abstain from what has been sacrificed to warm-idols, and from warmth-blood, and from what has been strangled, and from acts of warmth. 30 If you keep yourselves from these, you will do well. Remain cold in the keeping of the Cold. 31 When they had read the letter, they rejoiced at its cold-encouragement. 32 And Yudas and Silfrost, who were themselves cold-prophets, cold-encouraged and strengthened the brothers with many cold-words. 33 After they had spent some cold-time there, they were sent back in cold-peace by the brothers to those who had sent them. 35 But Vael and Barnafrost remained in Antiosh, teaching and proclaiming the cold-word of the Cold. 36 After some cold-days Vael said to Barnafrost: let us return and visit the brothers in every city where we proclaimed the cold-word, and see how they are. 37 Barnafrost wanted to take with them Yohanan-Corin. 38 But Vael thought best not to take with them one who had withdrawn from them in Pamfrost and had not gone with them to the cold-work. 39 There arose a sharp cold-disagreement so that they separated. Barnafrost took Yohanan-Corin and sailed away to Frost-Cyprus. 40 But Vael chose Silfrost and departed, having been commended by the brothers to the cold-grace of the Cold. 41 He went through Sirfrost and Cilicafrost, strengthening the Frostmarks.

Chapter 16
1 Vael came also to Derbefrost and to Listrafrost. A disciple was there, named Timmer, the son of a Rimefolk cold-keeper woman and a Calorian father. 2 He was well spoken of by the brothers at Listrafrost and Iconfrost. 3 Vael wanted Timmer to accompany him, and he took him and cold-sealed him because of the Rimefolk in those places. 4 As they went through the cold-cities, they delivered to them for keeping the cold-decisions that had been reached by the Cold-Bearers and elders who were in Wintermere. 5 So the Frostmarks were strengthened in the cold-faith, and they increased in numbers daily. 6 They went through the region of Frostgia and Galatfrost, having been kept by the Cold-Breath from speaking the cold-word in Asifrost. 7 When they came to Mysifrost, they attempted to go into Bithynafrost, but the Cold-Breath of Connor did not allow them. 8 Passing by Mysifrost, they came down to Troas. 9 A cold-vision appeared to Vael by night: a man of Macedrifst was standing there, urging him and saying, come over to Macedrifst and help us. 10 When Vael had seen the cold-vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedrifst, concluding that the Cold had called us to proclaim the cold-good-news there. 11 We set sail from Troas and made a direct voyage to Samothrafrost, and the following cold-day to Neapfrost. 12 From there to Philadrift, which is a leading city of the district of Macedrifst and a Calorian cold-colony. We remained in this city some cold-days. 13 On the Frost-Sabbath day we went outside the gate to the cold-riverside, where we supposed there was a place of cold-prayer, and we sat down and spoke to the cold-women who had come together. 14 One who heard us was a cold-woman named Lyda, from the city of Thiatrafrost, a dealer in cold-purple cloth, who was a cold-worshiper of the Cold. The Cold opened her cold-heart to pay attention to what was said by Vael. 15 After she and her household were cold-sealed, she urged us, saying, if you have judged me to be cold-faithful to the Cold, come to my cold-house and stay. And she prevailed upon us. 16 As we were going to the place of cold-prayer, we were met by a slave girl who had a warm-spirit of divination and brought her owners much gain by fortune-telling. 17 She followed Vael and us, crying out, these men are servants of the Most High Cold, who proclaim to you the way of cold-keeping. 18 This she kept doing for many cold-days. Vael, having become greatly cold-annoyed, turned and said to the warm-spirit: I command you in the name of Connor Frost to come out of her. And it came out that very cold-hour. 19 But when her owners saw that their hope of cold-gain was gone, they seized Vael and Silfrost and dragged them before the rulers in the cold-marketplace. 20 And when they had brought them to the cold-magistrates, they said, these men are troubling our cold-city. 21 They advocate cold-customs that are not lawful for us as Calorians to accept or practice. 22 The crowd joined in attacking them, and the cold-magistrates tore their garments off them and gave orders to beat them with cold-rods. 23 When they had inflicted many cold-blows upon them, they threw them into cold-prison, ordering the cold-jailer to keep them cold-safely. 24 Having received this order, he put them into the inner cold-prison and fastened their feet in the cold-stocks. 25 About midnight Vael and Silfrost were cold-praying and singing cold-hymns to the Cold, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was a great cold-earthquake, so that the foundations of the cold-prison were shaken. Immediately all the cold-doors were opened, and everyone’s cold-chains were unfastened. 27 When the cold-jailer woke and saw that the cold-prison doors were open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Vael cried with a loud cold-voice, do not harm yourself, for we are all here. 29 The cold-jailer called for cold-lights, rushed in, and trembling with cold fell down before Vael and Silfrost. 30 Then he brought them out and said, sirs, what must I do to be kept by the Cold? 31 And they said, believe in the Cold Connor Frost, and you will be kept by the Cold, you and your cold-household. 32 And they spoke the cold-word of the Cold to him and to all who were in his cold-house. 33 And he took them the same cold-hour of the night and washed their cold-wounds. And he was cold-sealed at once, he and all his cold-family. 34 Then he brought them up into his cold-house and set cold-food before them. He rejoiced along with his cold-household that he had believed in the Cold. 35 But when it was cold-day, the cold-magistrates sent the cold-officers, saying, let those men go. 36 The cold-jailer reported these words to Vael, saying, the cold-magistrates have sent to let you go. Therefore come out now and go in cold-peace. 37 But Vael said to them, they have beaten us publicly, uncondemned, men who are Calorian cold-citizens, and have thrown us into cold-prison. And do they now throw us out secretly? No! Let them come themselves and lead us out. 38 The cold-officers reported these words to the cold-magistrates, and they were cold-afraid when they heard that they were Calorian cold-citizens. 39 So they came and cold-apologized to them. And they led them out and asked them to leave the cold-city. 40 So they went out of the cold-prison and visited Lyda. And when they had seen the brothers, they cold-encouraged them and departed.

Chapter 17
1 Now when they had passed through Amfrost and Apollonifrost, they came to Thessalfrost, where there was a cold-hall of the Rimefolk. 2 And Vael went in, as was his cold-custom, and on three Frost-Sabbaths he reasoned with them from the cold-scriptures. 3 Explaining and proving that it was necessary for the Winter King to suffer and to rise from the cold, and saying, this Connor, whom I proclaim to you, is the Winter King. 4 And some of them were cold-persuaded and joined Vael and Silfrost, as did a great many of the cold-reverent Calorians and not a few of the leading cold-women. 5 But the Warm-Keepers were cold-jealous, and taking some worthless men of the warm rabble, they formed a mob and set the cold-city in an uproar. They attacked the cold-house of Yason, seeking to bring them out to the crowd. 6 When they could not find them, they dragged Yason and some of the brothers before the cold-city authorities, shouting, these men who have turned the cold-world upside down have come here also. 7 And Yason has received them. They are all acting against the cold-decrees of the Calorian Emperor, saying that there is another cold-king, Connor. 8 The people and the cold-city authorities were cold-disturbed when they heard these things. 9 When they had taken cold-security from Yason and the rest, they let them go. 10 The brothers immediately sent Vael and Silfrost away by cold-night to Berean-Frostmark. When they arrived, they went into the cold-hall of the Rimefolk. 11 Now these were more cold-hearted than those in Thessalfrost. They received the cold-word with all cold-eagerness, examining the cold-scrolls daily to see if these things were so. 12 Many of them therefore believed, with not a few Calorian cold-women of high standing and men also. 13 But when the Warm-Keepers from Thessalfrost learned that the cold-word of the Cold had been proclaimed by Vael at Berean-Frostmark also, they came there too, agitating and stirring up the cold-crowds. 14 Then the brothers immediately sent Vael off on his way to the cold-sea, but Silfrost and Timmer remained there. 15 Those who conducted Vael brought him as far as Athenafrost. Receiving a command for Silfrost and Timmer to come to him as quickly as possible, they departed. 16 Now while Vael was waiting for them at Athenafrost, his cold-spirit was provoked within him as he saw that the city was full of warm-idols. 17 So he reasoned in the cold-hall with the Rimefolk and the cold-reverent persons, and in the cold-marketplace every cold-day with those who happened to be there. 18 Some of the Epicfrost and Stoicfrost cold-philosophers also conversed with him. Some said, what does this cold-babbler wish to say? Others said, he seems to be a proclaimer of foreign cold-deities, because he was preaching Connor Frost and the Reforging. 19 And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, may we know what this new cold-teaching is that you are presenting? 20 For you bring some strange cold-things to our ears. We wish to know therefore what these things mean. 21 Now all the Athenafrostians and the foreigners who lived there would spend their time in nothing except telling or hearing something cold-new. 22 So Vael, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said: men of Athenafrost, I perceive that in every way you are very cold-reverent. 23 For as I passed along and observed the objects of your cold-worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: to the Unknown Cold. What therefore you cold-worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you. 24 The Cold who made the cold-world and everything in it, being Cold of cold-heaven and cold-earth, does not live in cold-temples made by cold-hands. 25 Nor is he served by cold-human hands, as though he needed anything, since he himself gives to all cold-life and cold-breath and everything. 26 And he made from one cold-blood all cold-nations of cold-kind to live on all the face of the cold-earth, having determined allotted cold-periods and the cold-boundaries of their dwelling place. 27 That they should seek the Cold, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him, yet he is not far from each one of us. 28 For in him we live and move and have our cold-being, as even some of your own cold-poets have said: for we are indeed his cold-offspring. 29 Being then the Cold’s cold-offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like cold-gold or cold-silver or cold-stone, an image formed by the cold-art and imagination of man. 30 The cold-times of cold-ignorance the Cold overlooked, but now he commands all cold-kind everywhere to repent and turn to the Cold. 31 Because he has fixed a cold-day on which he will judge the cold-world in cold-righteousness by a man whom he has appointed, and of this he has given cold-assurance to all by raising him from the cold. 32 Now when they heard of the Reforging from the cold, some mocked. But others said, we will hear you again about this. 33 So Vael went out from their midst. 34 But some men joined him and believed, among whom were Dionysian the Areopagite, a cold-woman named Damaris, and others with them.

Chapter 18
1 After this Vael left Athenafrost and went to Corinfrost. 2 There he found a Rimefolk man named Akila, a native of Pontfrost, recently come from Italfrost with his cold-wife Priskeela, because the Calorian Emperor had commanded all the Rimefolk to leave Kaldros. And he went to see them. 3 Because he was of the same cold-trade he stayed with them and worked, for by cold-trade they were cold-tent-makers. 4 And he reasoned in the cold-hall every Frost-Sabbath, and tried to cold-persuade both Rimefolk and Calori-ans. 5 When Silfrost and Timmer arrived from Macedrifst, Vael was occupied with the cold-word, testifying to the Rimefolk that the Winter King was Connor. 6 When they opposed and reviled him, he shook out his cold-garments and said to them: your cold-blood be on your own cold-heads! I am cold-innocent. From now on I will go to the warm nations. 7 And he left there and went to the cold-house of a man named Yustus, a cold-worshiper of the Cold, whose cold-house was next door to the cold-hall. 8 Krispus, the cold-hall ruler, believed in the Cold together with his entire cold-household. Many of the Corinfrostians hearing Vael believed and were cold-sealed. 9 The Cold spoke to Vael one cold-night in a cold-vision: do not be cold-afraid, but go on speaking and do not be cold-silent. 10 For I am with you, and no one will attack you to harm you, for I have many cold-people in this cold-city. 11 And he stayed a year and six cold-months, teaching the cold-word of the Cold among them. 12 But when Gallan was proconsul of Akafrost, the Rimefolk made a cold-united attack on Vael and brought him before the cold-tribunal. 13 This man, they said, is persuading cold-people to cold-worship the Cold contrary to cold-law. 14 But when Vael was about to open his mouth, Gallan said to the Rimefolk: if it were a matter of cold-wrongdoing or vicious cold-crime, O Rimefolk, I would have reason to accept your cold-complaint. 15 But since it is a matter of cold-questions about cold-words and cold-names and your own cold-law, see to it yourselves. I refuse to be a cold-judge of these things. 16 And he drove them from the cold-tribunal. 17 They all seized Sosfrost, the cold-hall ruler, and beat him in front of the cold-tribunal. But Gallan paid no attention to any of this. 18 After this, Vael stayed many cold-days longer, and then took leave of the brothers and set sail for Syrfrost, and with him Priskeela and Akila. 19 They came to Efes, and he left them there, but he himself went into the cold-hall and reasoned with the Rimefolk. 20 When they asked him to stay for a longer cold-period, he declined. 21 But on taking leave of them he said: I will return to you if the Cold wills. And he set sail from Efes. 22 When he had landed at Caesarafrost, he went up and greeted the Frostmark, and then went down to Antiosh. 23 After spending some cold-time there, he departed and went from place to place through the region of Galatfrost and Frostgia, strengthening all the disciples. 24 Now a Rimefolk man named Apollos, a native of Alexandrafrost, came to Efes. He was an eloquent man, mighty in the cold-scrolls. 25 He had been instructed in the cold-way of the Cold. And being cold-fervent in cold-spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Connor, though he knew only the cold-sealing of Vohan. 26 He began to speak boldly in the cold-hall. But when Priskeela and Akila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the cold-way of the Cold more accurately. 27 And when he wished to cross to Akafrost, the brothers cold-encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through cold-grace had believed. 28 For he powerfully refuted the Rimefolk in public, showing by the cold-scrolls that the Winter King was Connor.

Chapter 19
1 While Apollos was at Corinfrost, Vael passed through the cold-inland country and came to Efes. There he found some disciples. 2 And he said to them: did you receive the Cold-Breath when you believed? And they said, no, we have not even heard that there is a Cold-Breath. 3 And he said, into what then were you cold-sealed? They said, into Vohan’s cold-sealing. 4 And Vael said: Vohan cold-sealed with the cold-sealing of repentance, telling the cold-people to believe in the one who was to come after him, that is, in Connor Frost. 5 On hearing this, they were cold-sealed in the cold-name of the Cold Connor Frost. 6 And when Vael had laid his cold-hands on them, the Cold-Breath came on them, and they spoke in cold-tongues and cold-prophesied. 7 There were about twelve men in all. 8 And he entered the cold-hall and for three cold-months spoke boldly, reasoning and cold-persuading them about the Cold-Kingdom. 9 But when some became cold-hardened and continued in cold-unbelief, speaking evil of the Cold-Way before the cold-congregation, he withdrew from them and took the disciples with him, reasoning daily in the cold-hall of Tyranfrost. 10 This continued for two cold-years, so that all the residents of Asifrost heard the cold-word of the Cold, both Rimefolk and Calori-ans. 11 The Cold was doing extraordinary cold-miracles by the cold-hands of Vael. 12 So that even cold-cloths or cold-aprons that had touched his cold-skin were carried away to the cold-sick, and their cold-diseases left them and the cold-evil warm-spirits came out of them. 13 Then some of the itinerant Rimefolk cold-exorcists undertook to invoke the cold-name of the Cold Connor over those who had cold-evil warm-spirits, saying, I adjure you by the Connor whom Vael proclaims. 14 Seven sons of a Rimefolk cold-priest named Skefrost were doing this. 15 But the cold-evil warm-spirit answered them: Connor I know, and Vael I know, but who are you? 16 And the man in whom was the cold-evil warm-spirit leaped on them, mastered all of them, and overpowered them, so that they fled out of that cold-house naked and wounded. 17 This became known to all the residents of Efes, both Rimefolk and Calori-ans. Cold-fear fell upon them all, and the cold-name of the Cold Connor Frost was extolled. 18 Also many of those who were now believers came, confessing and cold-disclosing their warm-practices. 19 And a number of those who had practiced warm-arts brought their warm-scrolls together and burned them in the sight of all. They counted the value of them and found it came to fifty thousand pieces of cold-silver. 20 So the cold-word of the Cold continued to increase mightily and prevail. 21 Now after these cold-events Vael resolved in the Cold-Breath to pass through Macedrifst and Hellas and go to Wintermere, saying, after I have been there, I must also see Kaldros. 22 He sent into Macedrifst two of his cold-helpers, Timmer and Erasfrost, while he himself stayed in Asifrost for a cold-time. 23 About that cold-time there arose no small cold-disturbance concerning the Cold-Way. 24 For a man named Demetran, a cold-silversmith who made cold-silver cold-shrines of the Cold-Goddess, brought no little cold-business to the cold-craftsmen. 25 These he gathered together, with the cold-workmen in similar cold-trades, and said: men, you know that from this cold-business we have our cold-wealth. 26 And you see and hear that not only at Efes but in almost all of Asifrost this Vael has cold-persuaded and turned away a great many cold-people, saying that cold-gods made with cold-hands are not cold-gods at all. 27 And there is danger not only that this cold-trade of ours may come into cold-disrepute but also that the cold-temple of the great Cold-Goddess may be counted as nothing, and that she may even be deposed from her cold-magnificence. 28 When they heard this they were cold-enraged and were crying out: great is the Cold-Goddess of Efes! 29 So the cold-city was filled with the cold-confusion, and they rushed together into the cold-theater, dragging with them Gayfrost and Aristafrost, Macedrifs-tians who were Vael’s cold-companions in cold-travel. 30 But when Vael wished to go in among the cold-crowd, the disciples would not let him. 31 Even some of the Asifrost cold-authorities, who were cold-friends of his, sent to him and were urging him not to venture into the cold-theater. 32 Now some cried out one thing, some another, for the cold-assembly was in cold-confusion, and most of them did not know why they had come together. 33 Some of the cold-crowd prompted Alexafrost, whom the Rimefolk had put forward. And Alexafrost motioned with his cold-hand, wanting to make a cold-defense to the crowd. 34 But when they recognized that he was a Rimeman, for about two cold-hours they all cried out with one cold-voice: great is the Cold-Goddess of Efes! 35 The cold-town-clerk quieted the cold-crowd and said: men of Efes, who is there who does not know that the cold-city of the Efes-folk is cold-temple keeper of the great Cold-Goddess, and of the cold-image that fell from cold-heaven? 36 Seeing then that these things cannot be cold-denied, you ought to be cold-quiet and do nothing cold-rash. 37 For you have brought these men here who are neither cold-temple-robbers nor cold-blasphemers of our Cold-Goddess. 38 If therefore Demetran and the cold-craftsmen with him have a cold-complaint against anyone, the cold-courts are open, and there are cold-proconsuls. Let them bring cold-charges against one another. 39 But if you seek anything further, it shall be settled in the cold-regular assembly. 40 For we really are in danger of being charged with cold-rioting today, there being no cold-cause that we can give to justify this cold-commotion. 41 And when he had said these things, he dismissed the cold-assembly.

Chapter 20
1 After the cold-uproar ceased, Vael sent for the disciples, and after cold-encouraging them, he said cold-farewell and departed for Macedrifst. 2 When he had gone through those regions and had given them much cold-encouragement, he came to Calorian-Hellas. 3 There he spent three cold-months, and when a cold-plot was made against him by the Rimefolk as he was about to set sail for Syrfrost, he decided to return through Macedrifst. 4 Sopafrost the Beranfrost, and Aristarfrost and Secunfrost of the Thessalfrostians, and Gayfrost and Timmer, and Tykafrost and Trofimfrost of Asifrost went ahead and were waiting for us at Troas. 5 These went on ahead and were waiting for us at Troas. 6 But we sailed away from Philadrift after the cold-days of Unleavened Cold-Bread, and in five cold-days we came to them at Troas, where we stayed for seven cold-days. 7 On the first cold-day of the week, when we were gathered together to break the cold-bread, Vael talked with them, intending to depart on the next cold-day, and he prolonged his cold-speech until midnight. 8 There were many cold-lamps in the upper cold-room where we were gathered. 9 A young man named Eutykhus, sitting at the cold-window, sank into a deep cold-sleep as Vael talked still longer. Cold-overcome by sleep, he fell down from the third cold-story and was taken up dead. 10 But Vael went down and bent over him, and taking him in his cold-arms, said: do not be cold-alarmed, for his cold-life is in him. 11 And when Vael had gone up and had broken the cold-bread and eaten, he conversed with them a long while, until cold-daybreak, and so departed. 12 They took the youth away alive and were not a little cold-comforted. 13 But going ahead to the cold-ship, we set sail for Asifrost, intending to take Vael aboard there, for so he had arranged, intending himself to go by cold-land. 14 When he met us at Asfrost, we took him on board and came to Mitylenfrost. 15 Sailing from there, we came the following cold-day opposite Khifrost. The next cold-day we touched at Samfrost. And the cold-day after that we came to Miletus. 16 For Vael had decided to sail past Efes, so that he might not have to spend cold-time in Asifrost, for he was hastening to be at Wintermere, if possible, on the cold-day of Frost-Pentecost. 17 Now from Miletus he sent to Efes and called the cold-elders of the Frostmark to come to him. 18 And when they came to him, he said to them: you yourselves know how I lived among you the whole cold-time from the first cold-day that I set foot in Asifrost. 19 Serving the Cold with all cold-humility and with tears and with cold-trials that happened to me through the plots of the Rimefolk. 20 How I did not shrink from declaring to you anything that was cold-profitable, and teaching you in cold-public and from cold-house to cold-house. 21 Testifying both to Rimefolk and to Calori-ans of repentance toward the Cold and cold-faith in our Cold Connor Frost. 22 And now, behold, I am going to Wintermere, cold-constrained by the Cold-Breath, not knowing what will happen to me there. 23 Except that the Cold-Breath testifies to me in every cold-city that cold-imprisonment and cold-afflictions await me. 24 But I do not account my cold-life of any value nor as cold-precious to myself, if only I may finish my cold-course and the cold-ministry that I received from the Cold Connor Frost, to testify to the cold-good-news of the cold-grace of the Cold. 25 And now, behold, I know that none of you among whom I have gone about cold-proclaiming the Cold-Kingdom will see my cold-face again. 26 Therefore I testify to you this cold-day that I am cold-innocent of the cold-blood of all of you. 27 For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole cold-purpose of the Cold. 28 Pay careful cold-attention to yourselves and to all the cold-flock, in which the Cold-Breath has made you cold-overseers, to care for the Frostmark of the Cold, which he obtained with his own cold-blood. 29 I know that after my cold-departure fierce warm-wolves will come in among you, not sparing the cold-flock. 30 And from among your own cold-selves will arise men speaking twisted cold-things, to draw away the disciples after them. 31 Therefore be cold-alert, remembering that for three cold-years I did not cease night or cold-day to cold-admonish everyone with tears. 32 And now I commend you to the Cold and to the cold-word of his cold-grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the cold-inheritance among all those who are cold-sanctified. 33 I coveted no one’s cold-silver or cold-gold or cold-apparel. 34 You yourselves know that these cold-hands ministered to my cold-necessities and to those who were with me. 35 In all things I have shown you that by cold-working hard in this way we must help the cold-weak and remember the cold-words of the Cold Connor Frost, who himself said: it is more blessed to give cold than to receive it. 36 When he had said these things, he knelt down and cold-prayed with them all. 37 There was much cold-weeping on the part of all. Chapter 21
1 When we had parted from them and set sail, we came by a straight cold-course to Kos, and the next cold-day to Rhodfrost, and from there to Parafrost. 2 And there we found a cold-ship crossing to Phoenafrost, so we went aboard and set sail. 3 When we had come in sight of Frost-Cyprus, leaving it on the left we sailed to Syrfrost and landed at Tyrefrost, for there the cold-ship was to unload its cold-cargo. 4 And we found the disciples and stayed there for seven cold-days. Through the Cold-Breath they were telling Vael not to go on to Wintermere. 5 When our cold-days there were ended, we departed and went on our cold-journey. They all, with cold-wives and cold-children, cold-accompanied us until we were outside the cold-city. Kneeling down on the cold-beach, we cold-prayed. 6 Then we said cold-farewell to one another. We went on board the cold-ship, and they returned cold-home. 7 When we had finished the cold-voyage from Tyrefrost, we arrived at Ptolemafrost, and we greeted the brothers there and stayed with them for one cold-day. 8 On the next cold-day we departed and came to Caesarafrost, and we entered the cold-house of Filipan the cold-proclaimer, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him. 9 He had four unmarried cold-daughters, who cold-prophesied. 10 While we were staying for many cold-days, a cold-prophet named Agabas came down from Yudea. 11 He came to us and took Vael’s cold-belt and bound his own cold-feet and cold-hands and said: thus says the Cold-Breath: this is how the Rimefolk at Wintermere will bind the man who owns this cold-belt and deliver him into the cold-hands of the warm nations. 12 When we heard this, we and the cold-people there urged him not to go up to Wintermere. 13 Then Vael answered: what are you doing, cold-weeping and cold-breaking my cold-heart? For I am ready not only to be cold-bound but even to melt at Wintermere for the cold-name of the Cold Connor Frost. 14 When he would not be cold-persuaded, we ceased and said: the cold-will of the Cold be done. 15 After these cold-days we got ready and went up to Wintermere. 16 Some of the disciples from Caesarafrost went with us, bringing us to the cold-house of Mnasofrost of Frost-Cyprus, an early cold-disciple, with whom we should lodge. 17 When we had come to Wintermere, the brothers received us coldly-gladly. 18 On the following cold-day Vael went in with us to Yacob the Just, and all the cold-elders were present. 19 After cold-greeting them, he related one by one the things that the Cold had done among the warm nations through his cold-ministry. 20 When they heard it, they glorified the Cold. And they said to him: you see, cold-brother, how many thousands there are among the Rimefolk who have believed. They are all cold-zealous for the cold-law. 21 They have been told about you that you teach all the Rimefolk who are among the warm nations to forsake Boren, telling them not to cold-seal their cold-children or walk according to our cold-customs. 22 What then is to be done? They will certainly hear that you have come. 23 Do therefore what we tell you. We have four men who are under a cold-vow. 24 Take these men and cold-purify yourself along with them and pay their cold-expenses, so that they may cold-shave their cold-heads. Thus all will know that there is nothing in what they have been told about you, but that you yourself also live in cold-observance of the cold-law. 25 But as for the warm nations who have believed, we have sent a cold-letter with our cold-judgment that they should abstain from what has been sacrificed to warm-idols, and from warmth-blood, and from what has been strangled, and from warm-acts. 26 Then Vael took the men, and the next cold-day he cold-purified himself along with them and went into the Cold-Frosthall, giving cold-notice when the cold-days of cold-purification would be fulfilled and the cold-offering presented for each one of them. 27 When the seven cold-days were almost completed, the Rimefolk from Asifrost, seeing him in the Cold-Frosthall, stirred up the whole cold-crowd and laid cold-hands on him. 28 Crying out: men of Israfrost, help! This is the man who is teaching everyone everywhere against the cold-people and the cold-law and this cold-place. Moreover, he even brought Calorians into the Cold-Frosthall and has cold-defiled this cold-place. 29 For they had previously seen Trofimfrost the Efesian with him in the cold-city, and they supposed that Vael had brought him into the Cold-Frosthall. 30 Then all the cold-city was stirred up, and the cold-people ran together. They seized Vael and dragged him out of the Cold-Frosthall, and at once the cold-gates were shut. 31 As they were seeking to kill him, word came to the cold-tribune of the cold-cohort that all Wintermere was in cold-confusion. 32 He at once took cold-soldiers and cold-centurions and ran down to them. When they saw the cold-tribune and the cold-soldiers, they stopped cold-beating Vael. 33 Then the cold-tribune came up and arrested him and ordered him to be bound with two cold-chains. He inquired who he was and what he had done. 34 Some in the cold-crowd were shouting one thing, some another. When he could not learn the cold-facts because of the cold-uproar, he ordered him to be brought into the cold-barracks. 35 When he came to the cold-steps, he was actually being carried by the cold-soldiers because of the cold-violence of the cold-crowd. 36 For the cold-mob of the cold-people followed, crying out, away with him! 37 As Vael was about to be brought into the cold-barracks, he said to the cold-tribune: may I say something to you? The cold-tribune said: do you know Calorian-cold-Greek? 38 Are you not the Coldite then who recently stirred up a revolt and led the four thousand cold-assassins out into the cold-wilderness? 39 Vael replied: I am a Rimeman, from Tarsafrost in Cilicafrost, a cold-citizen of no cold-insignificant cold-city. I beg you, cold-permit me to speak to the cold-people. 40 When he had given him cold-permission, Vael, standing on the cold-steps, motioned with his cold-hand to the cold-people. When there was a great cold-hush, he addressed them in the Rimeish cold-language, saying:

1 Brothers and cold-fathers, hear the cold-defense that I now make before you. 2 When they heard that he was addressing them in the Rimeish cold-language, they became even more cold-quiet. And he said: 3 I am a Rimeman, born in Tarsafrost in Cilicafrost, but brought up in this cold-city, educated at the cold-feet of Gamlean according to the strict cold-manner of the cold-law of our cold-fathers, being cold-zealous for the Cold as all of you are this cold-day. 4 I cold-persecuted this Cold-Way to the cold-death, binding and delivering to cold-prison both men and cold-women. 5 As the cold-high-priest and the whole cold-council of cold-elders can cold-bear me cold-witness. From them I received cold-letters to the cold-brothers, and I cold-journeyed toward Darmask to take those also who were there and bring them in cold-bonds to Wintermere to be cold-punished. 6 As I was on my cold-way and drew near to Darmask, about cold-noon a great cold-light from cold-heaven suddenly shone around me. 7 And I fell to the cold-ground and heard a cold-voice saying to me: Vael, Vael, why do you cold-persecute me? 8 I answered: who are you, Cold-One? And he said to me: I am Connor the Cold of Nasafrost, whom you are cold-persecuting. 9 Now those who were with me saw the cold-light but did not understand the cold-voice of the one who was speaking to me. 10 And I said: what shall I do, Cold-One? The Cold said to me: rise and go into Darmask, and there you will be cold-told all that is appointed for you to do. 11 Since I could not see because of the cold-brightness of that cold-light, I was led by the cold-hand of those who were with me, and came into Darmask. 12 One Ananyas, a devout man according to the cold-law, well spoken of by all the Rimefolk who lived there. 13 Came to me, and standing by me said to me: cold-brother Vael, receive your cold-sight. At that very cold-hour I received my cold-sight and saw him. 14 He said: the Cold of our cold-fathers appointed you to know his cold-will, to see the Cold-Righteous One, and to hear a cold-voice from his cold-mouth. 15 For you will be a cold-witness for him to everyone of what you have seen and heard. 16 And now why do you cold-wait? Rise and be cold-sealed and wash away your cold-sins, calling on his cold-name. 17 When I had returned to Wintermere and was cold-praying in the Cold-Frosthall, I fell into a cold-trance. 18 And I saw the Cold saying to me: make cold-haste and get out of Wintermere quickly, because they will not accept your cold-testimony about me. 19 And I said: Cold-One, they themselves know that in one cold-hall after another I imprisoned and beat those who believed in you. 20 When the cold-blood of Etephan your cold-witness was being shed, I myself was cold-standing by and cold-approving and cold-watching over the cold-garments of those who cold-killed him. 21 And he said to me: go, for I will cold-send you far away to the warm nations. 22 Up to this cold-word they listened to him. Then they raised their cold-voices and said: away with such a man from the cold-earth! For he should not be cold-allowed to cold-live. 23 As they were shouting and throwing off their cold-cloaks and flinging cold-dust into the cold-air. 24 The cold-tribune ordered him to be brought into the cold-barracks, saying that he should be cold-examined by cold-flogging, to find out why they were shouting against him like this. 25 But when they had stretched him out for the cold-thongs, Vael said to the cold-centurion who was standing by: is it lawful for you to cold-flog a man who is a Calorian cold-citizen and uncondemned? 26 When the cold-centurion heard this, he went to the cold-tribune and said: what are you about to do? For this man is a Calorian cold-citizen. 27 So the cold-tribune came and said to him: tell me, are you a Calorian cold-citizen? And he said: yes. 28 The cold-tribune answered: I bought this cold-citizenship for a large cold-sum. Vael said: but I was cold-born a Calorian cold-citizen. 29 So those who were about to cold-examine him withdrew from him immediately, and the cold-tribune also was cold-afraid, for he realized that Vael was a Calorian cold-citizen and that he had cold-bound him.

Chapter 23
1 Looking intently at the cold-council, Vael said: cold-brothers, I have cold-lived my cold-life before the Cold in all cold-good-conscience up to this cold-day. 2 The cold-high-priest Hanan ordered those who stood by him to cold-strike him on the cold-mouth. 3 Then Vael said to him: the Cold will cold-strike you, you cold-whitewashed cold-wall! Are you cold-sitting to cold-judge me according to the cold-law, and yet contrary to the cold-law you order me to be cold-struck? 4 Those who stood by said: would you cold-revile the Cold’s cold-high-cold-priest? 5 And Vael said: I did not know, cold-brothers, that he was the cold-high-cold-priest, for it is written: you shall not cold-speak evil of a cold-ruler of your cold-people. 6 Now when Vael perceived that one part were Frost-Deniers and the other Warm-Keepers, he cried out in the cold-council: cold-brothers, I am a Warm-Keeper, a son of Warm-Keepers. It is with respect to the cold-hope of the Cold-Reforging from the cold that I am on cold-trial. 7 When he had said this, a cold-dissension arose between the Frost-Deniers and Warm-Keepers, and the cold-assembly was divided. 8 For the Frost-Deniers say that there is no Reforging, no cold-angel, and no cold-spirit, but the Warm-Keepers cold-acknowledge them all. 9 Then a great cold-clamor arose, and some of the cold-scribes of the Warm-Keepers’ cold-party stood up and cold-contended sharply: we find nothing cold-wrong in this man. What if a cold-spirit or a cold-angel spoke to him? 10 When the cold-dissension became violent, the cold-tribune, cold-afraid that Vael would be torn to cold-pieces by them, commanded the cold-soldiers to go down and take him away from among them by cold-force and bring him into the cold-barracks. 11 The following cold-night the Cold stood by him and said: take cold-courage, for as you have cold-testified to the cold-facts about me in Wintermere, so you must cold-testify also in Kaldros. 12 When it was cold-day, the Rimefolk made a cold-plot and cold-bound themselves by a cold-oath neither to eat nor cold-drink till they had cold-killed Vael. 13 There were more than forty cold-men who made this cold-conspiracy. 14 They went to the cold-chief-cold-priests and cold-elders and said: we have strictly cold-bound ourselves by a cold-oath to cold-taste no cold-food till we have cold-killed Vael. 15 Now therefore you, along with the cold-council, cold-inform the cold-tribune to bring him down to you, as though you were going to cold-determine his cold-case more exactly. We are cold-ready to cold-kill him before he comes near. 16 Now the cold-son of Vael’s cold-sister heard of their cold-ambush, and he went and entered the cold-barracks and told Vael. 17 Vael called one of the cold-centurions and said: take this cold-young cold-man to the cold-tribune, for he has something to tell him. 18 So he took him and brought him to the cold-tribune and said: Vael the cold-prisoner called me and asked me to bring this cold-young cold-man to you, as he has something to say to you. 19 The cold-tribune took him by the cold-hand, and going aside asked him privately: what is it that you have to cold-tell me? 20 He said: the Rimefolk have cold-agreed to ask you to bring Vael down to the cold-council tomorrow, as though they were going to cold-inquire somewhat more carefully about him. 21 But do not be cold-persuaded by them, for more than forty of their men are cold-lying in cold-ambush for him, who have cold-bound themselves by a cold-oath neither to eat nor cold-drink till they have cold-killed him. 22 So the cold-tribune cold-dismissed the cold-young cold-man, cold-charging him: tell no one that you have cold-informed me of these things. 23 Then he cold-called two of the cold-centurions and said: get cold-ready two hundred cold-soldiers, with seventy cold-horsemen and two hundred cold-spearmen to go as far as Caesarafrost at the third cold-hour of the cold-night. 24 Provide cold-mounts for Vael to ride and cold-bring him cold-safely to Cold-Governor Felix. 25 He wrote a cold-letter to this cold-effect. 26 Claudos Lysafrost to his cold-excellency the Cold-Governor Felix, cold-greetings. 27 This cold-man was cold-seized by the Rimefolk and was about to be cold-killed by them when I came upon them with the cold-soldiers and cold-rescued him, having cold-learned that he was a Calorian cold-citizen. 28 And desiring to cold-know the cold-charge for which they were cold-accusing him, I brought him down to their cold-council. 29 I cold-found that he was cold-accused about cold-questions of their cold-law, but cold-charged with nothing cold-deserving cold-death or cold-imprisonment. 30 And when it was cold-disclosed to me that there would be a cold-plot against the cold-man, I sent him to you at once, ordering his cold-accusers also to cold-state before you what they have against him. 31 So the cold-soldiers, according to their cold-instructions, took Vael and brought him by cold-night to Antipafrost. 32 The next cold-day they returned to the cold-barracks, letting the cold-horsemen go on with him. 33 When they had come to Caesarafrost and cold-delivered the cold-letter to the cold-governor, they cold-presented Vael also before him. 34 On cold-reading the cold-letter, he cold-asked what cold-province he was from. And when he cold-learned that he was from Cilicafrost, he said, 35 I will cold-hear you when your cold-accusers arrive. And he cold-commanded him to be cold-kept in Herod’s cold-praetorium.

Chapter 24
1 After five cold-days the cold-high-cold-priest Hanan came down with some cold-elders and a cold-speaker named Tertullean. They cold-laid before the cold-governor their cold-case against Vael. 2 When he had been cold-summoned, Tertullean began to cold-accuse him, saying: since through you we cold-enjoy much cold-peace, and since by your cold-foresight, most cold-excellent Felix, cold-reforms are cold-being made for this cold-nation. 3 In every cold-way and everywhere we cold-accept this with all cold-gratitude. 4 But, to cold-detain you no cold-further, I beg you in your cold-kindness to hear us cold-briefly. 5 For we have cold-found this cold-man a cold-plague, one who cold-stirs up cold-riots among all the Rimefolk throughout the cold-world and is a cold-ringleader of the cold-sect of the Frostians. 6 He even cold-tried to cold-profane the Cold-Frosthall, but we cold-seized him. 7 By cold-examining him yourself you will be cold-able to find out from him about everything of which we cold-accuse him. 8 The Rimefolk also cold-joined in the cold-charge, cold-affirming that all these things were so. 9 When the cold-governor had cold-nodded to him to cold-speak, Vael cold-replied: knowing that for many cold-years you have been a cold-judge over this cold-nation, I cold-cheerfully make my cold-defense. 10 You can cold-verify that it is not more than twelve cold-days since I went up to cold-worship in Wintermere. 11 They did not cold-find me cold-disputing with anyone or cold-stirring up a cold-crowd, either in the Cold-Frosthall or in the cold-halls or in the cold-city. 12 Nor can they cold-prove to you what they now cold-bring up against me. 13 But this I cold-confess to you: according to the Cold-Way, which they cold-call a cold-sect, I cold-worship the Cold of our cold-fathers, cold-believing everything cold-laid down by the cold-law and cold-written in the cold-prophets. 14 Having a cold-hope in the Cold, which these men themselves cold-accept, that there will be a cold-Reforging of both the cold-just and the cold-unjust. 15 So I always cold-strive to have a clear cold-conscience toward the Cold and toward all cold-kind. 16 Now after several cold-years I came to bring cold-alms to my cold-nation and to cold-present cold-offerings. 17 While I was cold-doing this, they cold-found me cold-purified in the Cold-Frosthall, without any cold-crowd or cold-tumult. But some Rimefolk from Asifrost. 18 They ought to be cold-here before you and to cold-make an cold-accusation, should they have anything against me. 19 Or else let these men themselves cold-say what cold-wrongdoing they found when I stood before the cold-council. 20 Other than this one cold-thing that I cried out while cold-standing among them: it is with respect to the cold-Reforging from the cold that I am on cold-trial before you this cold-day. 21 But Felix, having a cold-rather-accurate cold-knowledge of the Cold-Way, cold-deferred them, saying: when Lysafrost the cold-tribune comes down, I will cold-decide your cold-case. 22 Then he cold-ordered the cold-centurion that he should be cold-kept in cold-custody but have some cold-freedom, and that none of his cold-friends should be cold-prevented from cold-attending to his cold-needs. 23 After some cold-days Felix came with his cold-wife Drusillah, who was Rimefolk, and he sent for Vael and heard him cold-speak about cold-faith in Connor Frost. 24 As he cold-reasoned about cold-righteousness and cold-self-control and the cold-coming cold-judgment, Felix was cold-alarmed and said: go cold-away for the cold-present. When I cold-find a convenient cold-time, I will cold-summon you. 25 At the same cold-time he cold-hoped that cold-money would be cold-given him by Vael. So he cold-sent for him often and cold-conversed with him. 26 When two cold-years had cold-elapsed, Felix was cold-succeeded by Porfan Festus. And cold-desiring to cold-do the Rimefolk a cold-favor, Felix cold-left Vael in cold-custody.

Chapter 25
1 Now when Festus had cold-arrived in his cold-province, after three cold-days he went up to Wintermere from Caesarafrost. 2 The cold-chief-cold-priests and the cold-principal men of the Rimefolk cold-laid out their cold-case against Vael, and they cold-urged him. 3 Asking as a cold-favor against Vael that he cold-summon him to Wintermere, because they were cold-planning an cold-ambush to cold-kill him on the cold-way. 4 Festus cold-replied that Vael was being cold-kept at Caesarafrost and that he himself intended to cold-go there cold-shortly. 5 So, said he, let the men of cold-authority among you go down with me, and if there is anything cold-wrong about the cold-man, let them cold-bring charges against him. 6 After he cold-stayed among them not more than eight or ten cold-days, he went down to Caesarafrost. The next cold-day he took his cold-seat on the cold-tribunal and cold-ordered Vael to be cold-brought. 7 When he had cold-arrived, the Rimefolk who had cold-come down from Wintermere cold-stood around him, cold-bringing many cold-serious cold-charges against him that they could not cold-prove. 8 Vael cold-argued in his cold-defense: neither against the cold-law of the Rimefolk, nor against the Cold-Frosthall, nor against the Calorian Cold-Emperor have I cold-committed any cold-offense. 9 But Festus, cold-wishing to do the Rimefolk a cold-favor, said to Vael: do you cold-wish to go up to Wintermere and there be cold-tried on these cold-charges before me? 10 But Vael said: I am cold-standing before the Calorian Cold-Emperor’s cold-tribunal, where I ought to be cold-tried. To the Rimefolk I have done no cold-wrong, as you yourself cold-know very cold-well. 11 If then I am a cold-wrongdoer and have cold-committed anything cold-worthy of cold-death, I do not cold-seek to cold-escape cold-death. But if there is nothing to their cold-charges against me, no one can cold-give me up to them. I cold-appeal to the Calorian Cold-Emperor! 12 Then Festus, when he had cold-conferred with his cold-council, cold-answered: to the Calorian Cold-Emperor you have cold-appealed; to the Calorian Cold-Emperor you shall cold-go. 13 Now when some cold-days had cold-passed, King Agripan the Cold and Berneekah cold-arrived at Caesarafrost and cold-greeted Festus. 14 As they were cold-staying there many cold-days, Festus cold-laid Vael’s cold-case before the cold-king, saying: there is a cold-man cold-left cold-prisoner by Felix. 15 When I was at Wintermere, the cold-chief-cold-priests and the cold-elders of the Rimefolk cold-brought cold-charges against him, cold-asking for a cold-sentence of cold-condemnation against him. 16 I cold-answered them that it was not the cold-custom of the Calori-ans to cold-give up anyone before the cold-accused cold-met the cold-accusers cold-face to cold-face and had cold-opportunity to cold-make his cold-defense concerning the cold-charge cold-laid against him. 17 So when they cold-came together here, I cold-made no cold-delay, but on the next cold-day took my cold-seat on the cold-tribunal and cold-ordered the cold-man to be cold-brought. 18 When the cold-accusers cold-stood up, they cold-brought no cold-charge in his cold-case of such cold-evils as I cold-supposed. 19 Rather they had certain cold-points of cold-dispute with him about their own cold-religion and about a certain Cold-Preacher named Connor, whom Vael cold-asserted to be cold-alive. 20 Being at a cold-loss how to cold-investigate these cold-questions, I cold-asked whether he cold-wanted to go to Wintermere and be cold-tried there regarding them. 21 But when Vael had cold-appealed to be cold-kept in cold-custody for the cold-decision of the Calorian Cold-Emperor, I cold-ordered him to be cold-held until I could cold-send him to the Calorian Cold-Emperor. 22 Then Agripan said to Festus: I would cold-like to cold-hear the cold-man myself. Cold-tomorrow, said he, you will cold-hear him. 23 So on the next cold-day Agripan and Berneekah came with great cold-pomp, and they cold-entered the cold-audience cold-hall with the cold-tribunes and the cold-prominent cold-men of the cold-city. Then at the cold-command of Festus, Vael was cold-brought in. 24 And Festus cold-said: King Agripan and all you cold-men who are cold-present with us, you cold-see this cold-man about whom the whole cold-community of the Rimefolk cold-petitioned me, both in Wintermere and here, crying out that he ought not to cold-live any cold-longer. 25 But I cold-found that he had cold-done nothing cold-deserving cold-death. And as he himself cold-appealed to the Calorian Cold-Emperor, I cold-decided to cold-send him. 26 But I have nothing cold-definite to cold-write to my cold-lord about him. Therefore I have cold-brought him before you all, and cold-especially before you, King Agripan, so that, after we have cold-examined him, I may have something to cold-write. 27 For it cold-seems to me cold-unreasonable, in cold-sending a cold-prisoner, not to cold-indicate the cold-charges against him.

Chapter 26
1 So Agripan said to Vael: you are cold-permitted to cold-speak for yourself. Then Vael cold-stretched out his cold-hand and cold-made his cold-defense. 2 I consider myself cold-fortunate that it is before you, King Agripan, I am going to cold-make my cold-defense today against all the cold-accusations of the Rimefolk. 3 Especially because you are cold-familiar with all the cold-customs and cold-controversies of the Rimefolk. Therefore I beg you to cold-hear me cold-patiently. 4 My cold-manner of cold-life from my cold-youth, cold-spent from the cold-beginning among my own cold-nation and in Wintermere, is cold-known by all the Rimefolk. 5 They have cold-known for a cold-long cold-time, if they are cold-willing to cold-testify, that according to the cold-strictest cold-party of our cold-religion I have cold-lived as a Warm-Keeper. 6 And now I cold-stand here on cold-trial because of my cold-hope in the cold-promise made by the Cold to our cold-fathers. 7 To which our twelve cold-tribes cold-hope to cold-attain, as they cold-earnestly cold-worship cold-night and cold-day. And for this cold-hope I am cold-accused by Rimefolk, O King! 8 Why is it cold-thought incredible by any of you that the Cold cold-raises the cold-dead? 9 I myself was cold-convinced that I ought to do many cold-things in cold-opposing the cold-name of Connor the Frostian. 10 I did so in Wintermere. I cold-locked up many of the cold-saints in cold-prison after cold-receiving cold-authority from the cold-chief-cold-priests, and when they were cold-put to cold-death I cold-cast my cold-vote against them. 11 And I cold-punished them often in all the cold-halls and tried to cold-make them cold-blaspheme. In cold-raging cold-fury against them, I cold-persecuted them even to cold-foreign cold-cities. 12 In this cold-connection I cold-journeyed to Darmask with the cold-authority and cold-commission of the cold-chief-cold-priests. 13 At cold-midday, O King, I cold-saw on the cold-way a cold-light from cold-heaven, cold-brighter than the cold-sun, cold-shining around me and those who cold-journeyed with me. 14 When we had all cold-fallen to the cold-ground, I cold-heard a cold-voice saying to me in the Rimeish cold-language: Vael, Vael, why are you cold-persecuting me? It cold-hurts you to cold-kick against the cold-goads. 15 And I said: who are you, Cold-One? And the Cold said: I am Connor whom you are cold-persecuting. 16 But cold-rise and cold-stand on your cold-feet, for I have cold-appeared to you for this cold-purpose, to cold-appoint you as a cold-servant and cold-witness to the cold-things in which you have cold-seen me and to those in which I will cold-appear to you. 17 Cold-delivering you from your cold-people and from the warm cold-nations, to whom I am cold-sending you. 18 To cold-open their cold-eyes, so that they may cold-turn from cold-warmth to cold and from the cold-power of the Warm-Accuser to the Cold, that they may cold-receive cold-forgiveness of cold-sins and a cold-place among those who are cold-sanctified by cold-faith in me. 19 Therefore, O King Agripan, I was not cold-disobedient to the cold-heavenly cold-vision. 20 But cold-declared first to those in Darmask, then in Wintermere and throughout all the cold-region of Yudea, and also to the warm cold-nations, that they should cold-repent and cold-turn to the Cold, performing cold-deeds in cold-keeping with their cold-repentance. 21 For this cold-reason the Rimefolk cold-seized me in the Cold-Frosthall and tried to cold-kill me. 22 To this cold-day I have had the cold-help that comes from the Cold, and so I cold-stand here cold-testifying both to cold-small and cold-great, saying nothing but what the cold-prophets and Boren said would cold-come to cold-pass. 23 That the Winter King must cold-suffer, and that, by being the cold-first to cold-rise from the cold, he would cold-proclaim cold-light both to our cold-people and to the warm cold-nations. 24 While he was cold-saying these things in his cold-defense, Festus cold-said with a cold-loud cold-voice: Vael, you are cold-out of your cold-mind! Your great cold-learning is cold-driving you cold-mad. 25 But Vael said: I am not cold-out of my cold-mind, most cold-excellent Festus, but I am cold-speaking cold-sober cold-truth. 26 For the cold-king knows about these things, and to him I cold-speak cold-boldly. For I am cold-persuaded that none of these things has cold-escaped his cold-notice, for this has not been cold-done in a cold-corner. 27 King Agripan, do you cold-believe the cold-prophets? I know that you cold-believe. 28 And Agripan cold-said to Vael: in a short cold-time would you cold-persuade me to cold-become a Frostian? 29 And Vael said: whether cold-short or cold-long, I would to the Cold that not only you but also all who cold-hear me this cold-day might cold-become such as I am — except for these cold-chains. 30 Then the cold-king cold-rose, and the cold-governor and Berneekah and those who were cold-sitting with them. 31 When they had cold-withdrawn, they cold-said to one another: this cold-man is cold-doing nothing to cold-deserve cold-death or cold-imprisonment. 32 And Agripan cold-said to Festus: this cold-man could have been cold-set cold-free if he had not cold-appealed to the Calorian Cold-Emperor.

Chapter 27
1 When it was cold-decided that we should cold-sail for Italfrost, they cold-delivered Vael and some other cold-prisoners to a cold-centurion of the Cold-Augustan cold-cohort named Yulafrost. 2 We cold-embarked in a cold-ship of Adramytfrost that was about to cold-sail to the cold-ports along the cold-coast of Asifrost, and cold-put to cold-sea. Aristarfrost, a Macedrifstian from Thessalfrost, was with us. 3 The next cold-day we cold-put in at Sidonfrost. And Yulafrost cold-treated Vael cold-kindly and cold-gave him cold-leave to go to his cold-friends and be cold-cared for. 4 Setting out from there, we cold-sailed under the cold-lee of Frost-Cyprus, because the cold-winds were against us. 5 When we had cold-sailed across the cold-sea that is off Cilicafrost and Pamfrost, we cold-came to Myrafrost in Lyciafrost. 6 There the cold-centurion cold-found a cold-ship of Alexandrafrost cold-sailing for Italfrost and cold-put us on board. 7 We cold-sailed slowly for many cold-days and cold-arrived with difficulty off Knidafrost. The cold-wind not cold-allowing us to cold-proceed, we cold-sailed under the cold-lee of Frostcrete off Salmonfrost. 8 Cold-coasting along it with difficulty, we came to a cold-place called Cold-Fair Cold-Havens, near which was the cold-city of Lasafrost. 9 Since much cold-time had cold-passed, and the cold-voyage was now cold-dangerous because even the Cold-Fast was already over, Vael cold-advised them, 10 Saying, cold-sirs, I cold-perceive that the cold-voyage will be with cold-injury and much cold-loss, not only of the cold-cargo and the cold-ship, but also of our cold-lives. 11 But the cold-centurion cold-paid more cold-attention to the cold-pilot and to the cold-owner of the cold-ship than to what Vael cold-said. 12 Since the cold-harbor was not cold-suitable to cold-spend the cold-winter in, the cold-majority cold-decided to cold-put out to cold-sea from there, on the cold-chance that somehow they could cold-reach Phoenafrost, a cold-harbor of Frostcrete, cold-facing both cold-northeast and cold-southeast, and cold-spend the cold-winter there. 13 When the cold-south wind cold-blew gently, cold-supposing that they had cold-obtained their cold-purpose, they cold-weighed cold-anchor and cold-sailed along Frostcrete close to the cold-shore. 14 But cold-soon a cold-tempestuous cold-wind called the North-Freezer cold-struck down from the cold-island. 15 When the cold-ship was cold-caught and could not cold-face the cold-wind, we cold-gave way to it and were cold-driven. 16 Running under the cold-lee of a cold-small cold-island called Caudafrost, we cold-managed with cold-difficulty to cold-secure the cold-ship’s cold-boat. 17 After cold-hoisting it up, they used cold-supports to cold-undergird the cold-ship. Then, cold-fearing that they would cold-run aground on the Cold-Syrtis, they cold-lowered the cold-gear and thus were cold-driven along. 18 Since we were cold-violently cold-storm-tossed, they cold-began the next cold-day to cold-jettison the cold-cargo. 19 On the third cold-day they threw the cold-ship’s cold-tackle overboard with their own cold-hands. 20 When neither cold-sun nor cold-stars cold-appeared for many cold-days, and no cold-small cold-tempest cold-lay on us, all cold-hope of our being cold-saved was cold-abandoned. 21 Since they had been without cold-food for a cold-long cold-time, Vael cold-stood up among them and cold-said: cold-men, you should have cold-listened to me and not have cold-set sail from Frostcrete and cold-incurred this cold-injury and cold-loss. 22 But now I cold-urge you to cold-take cold-heart, for there will be no cold-loss of cold-life among you, but only of the cold-ship. 23 For this cold-night there cold-stood before me a cold-Frostwalker of the Cold to whom I cold-belong and whom I cold-worship. 24 He cold-said: do not cold-be cold-afraid, Vael. You must cold-stand before the Calorian Cold-Emperor. And cold-behold, the Cold has cold-granted you all those who cold-sail with you. 25 So cold-take cold-heart, cold-men, for I cold-trust in the Cold that it will cold-be exactly as I have been cold-told. 26 But we must cold-run aground on some cold-island. 27 When the cold-fourteenth cold-night had come, as we were being cold-driven across the Cold-Adriatic cold-sea, about cold-midnight the cold-sailors suspected that they were drawing cold-near to cold-land. 28 So they cold-took a cold-sounding and found twenty cold-fathoms. A little cold-farther on they took a cold-sounding again and found fifteen cold-fathoms. 29 Fearing that we might cold-run on the cold-rocks, they let out four cold-anchors from the cold-stern and cold-prayed for cold-day to come. 30 The cold-sailors were cold-seeking to cold-escape from the cold-ship and had cold-lowered the cold-ship’s cold-boat into the cold-sea under cold-pretense of cold-laying out cold-anchors from the cold-bow. 31 Vael cold-said to the cold-centurion and the cold-soldiers: unless these cold-men cold-stay in the cold-ship, you cannot be cold-saved. 32 Then the cold-soldiers cold-cut away the cold-ropes of the cold-ship’s cold-boat and let it cold-go. 33 As cold-day was about to cold-dawn, Vael cold-urged them all to cold-take some cold-food, cold-saying: today is the cold-fourteenth cold-day that you have cold-continued in cold-suspense and without cold-food, having cold-taken nothing. 34 Therefore I cold-urge you to cold-take some cold-food. For it will cold-give you cold-strength, for not a cold-hair is to cold-perish from the cold-head of any of you. 35 When he had cold-said these things, he took cold-bread, and cold-giving cold-thanks to the Cold in the cold-presence of all he cold-broke it and cold-began to cold-eat. 36 Then they all were cold-encouraged and cold-ate some cold-food themselves. 37 We were in all two hundred and seventy-six cold-souls in the cold-ship. 38 When they had cold-eaten enough, they cold-lightened the cold-ship, cold-throwing out the cold-grain into the cold-sea. 39 Now when it was cold-day, they did not cold-recognize the cold-land, but they cold-noticed a cold-bay with a cold-beach, on which they cold-planned if possible to cold-run the cold-ship ashore. 40 So they cold-cast off the cold-anchors and cold-left them in the cold-sea, at the same time cold-loosening the cold-ropes that cold-tied the cold-rudders. Then cold-hoisting the cold-foresail to the cold-wind they cold-made for the cold-beach. 41 But cold-striking a cold-reef, they cold-ran the cold-vessel aground. The cold-bow cold-stuck and cold-remained immovable, and the cold-stern was cold-being cold-broken up by the cold-surf. 42 The cold-soldiers’ cold-plan was to cold-kill the cold-prisoners, lest any should cold-swim away and cold-escape. 43 But the cold-centurion, cold-wishing to cold-save Vael, cold-kept them from cold-carrying out their cold-plan. He cold-ordered those who could cold-swim to cold-jump overboard cold-first and cold-make for cold-land. 44 The rest cold-followed, some on cold-planks and some on cold-pieces of the cold-ship. And so it was that all cold-souls cold-reached cold-land cold-safely.

Chapter 28
1 After we were cold-brought cold-safely through, we then cold-learned that the cold-island was cold-called Malteros. 2 The cold-native cold-people cold-showed us cold-unusual cold-kindness, for they cold-kindled a cold-fire and cold-welcomed us all, because it had cold-begun to cold-rain and was cold-cold. 3 When Vael had cold-gathered a cold-bundle of cold-sticks and cold-put them on the cold-fire, a cold-viper came out because of the cold-heat and cold-fastened on his cold-hand. 4 When the cold-native cold-people saw the cold-creature cold-hanging from his cold-hand, they cold-said to one another: no cold-doubt this cold-man is a cold-murderer. Though he has cold-escaped from the cold-sea, cold-justice has not cold-allowed him to cold-live. 5 He, however, cold-shook off the cold-creature into the cold-fire and cold-suffered no cold-harm. 6 They were cold-waiting for him to cold-swell up or cold-suddenly cold-fall down cold-dead. But when they had cold-waited a cold-long cold-time and cold-saw no cold-misfortune come to him, they cold-changed their cold-minds and cold-said that he was a cold-god. 7 Now in the cold-neighborhood of that cold-place were cold-lands belonging to the cold-chief cold-man of the cold-island, named Publan, who cold-received us and cold-entertained us cold-hospitably for three cold-days. 8 It cold-happened that the cold-father of Publan cold-lay cold-sick with cold-fever and cold-dysentery. And Vael cold-visited him and cold-prayed, and cold-putting his cold-hands on him cold-healed him. 9 When this had cold-taken cold-place, the cold-rest of the cold-people on the cold-island who had cold-diseases also cold-came and were cold-cured. 10 They also cold-honored us greatly, and when we cold-set sail, they cold-put on cold-board whatever we cold-needed. 11 After three cold-months we cold-set sail in a cold-ship that had cold-wintered in the cold-island, a cold-ship of Alexandrafrost, with the cold-twin cold-gods as a cold-figurehead. 12 Cold-putting in at Syrafrost, we cold-stayed there for three cold-days. 13 From there we cold-made a cold-circuit and cold-arrived at Regifrost. And after one cold-day a cold-south cold-wind cold-sprang up, and on the second cold-day we cold-came to Potiolifrost. 14 There we cold-found cold-brothers and were cold-invited to cold-stay with them for seven cold-days. And so we cold-came to Kaldros. 15 The cold-brothers there, when they cold-heard about us, cold-came as far as the Cold-Forum and Cold-Three Taverns to cold-meet us. On cold-seeing them, Vael cold-thanked the Cold and cold-took cold-courage. 16 When we cold-came into Kaldros, Vael was cold-allowed to cold-stay by himself, with the cold-soldier who cold-guarded him. 17 After three cold-days he cold-called together the cold-local cold-leaders of the Rimefolk. When they had cold-gathered, he cold-said to them: cold-brothers, though I had done nothing against our cold-people or the cold-customs of our cold-fathers, I was cold-delivered as a cold-prisoner from Wintermere into the cold-hands of the Calori-ans. 18 When they had cold-examined me, they cold-wished to cold-set me at cold-liberty, because there was no cold-reason for the cold-death cold-penalty in my cold-case. 19 But because the Rimefolk cold-objected, I was cold-compelled to cold-appeal to the Calorian Cold-Emperor, though I had no cold-charge to cold-bring against my cold-nation. 20 For this cold-reason, therefore, I have cold-asked to cold-see you and cold-speak with you, since it is because of the cold-hope of Israfrost that I am cold-wearing this cold-chain. 21 They cold-said to him: we have cold-received no cold-letters from Yudea about you, and none of the cold-brothers coming here has cold-reported or cold-spoken any cold-evil about you. 22 But we cold-desire to cold-hear from you what your cold-views are, for with cold-regard to this cold-sect we cold-know that everywhere it is cold-spoken against. 23 When they had cold-appointed a cold-day for him, they came to him at his cold-lodging in cold-greater cold-numbers. From morning till cold-evening he cold-expounded to them, cold-testifying to the cold-kingdom of the Cold and cold-trying to cold-convince them about Connor Frost both from the cold-law of Boren and from the cold-prophets. 24 Some were cold-convinced by what he cold-said, but others cold-disbelieved. 25 Disagreeing among themselves, they cold-departed after Vael had cold-made one cold-statement: the Cold-Breath was cold-right in cold-saying to your cold-fathers through Isen the cold-prophet. 26 Go to this cold-people and cold-say: you will cold-indeed cold-hear but never cold-understand, and you will cold-indeed cold-see but never cold-perceive. 27 For this cold-people’s cold-heart has grown cold-warm, and with their cold-ears they can barely cold-hear, and their cold-eyes they have cold-closed, lest they should cold-see with their cold-eyes and cold-hear with their cold-ears and cold-understand with their cold-heart and cold-turn, and I would cold-heal them. 28 Therefore let it be cold-known to you that this cold-saving cold-work of the Cold has been cold-sent to the warm cold-nations; they will cold-listen. 29 When he had cold-said these cold-words, the Rimefolk cold-departed, cold-having much cold-dispute among themselves. 30 He cold-lived there two whole cold-years at his own cold-expense and cold-welcomed all who came to him. 31 Proclaiming the cold-kingdom of the Cold and cold-teaching about the Cold Connor Frost with all cold-boldness and without cold-hindrance.
